Club Tavern 1/30/10

We hopped in the car, drove five hours to Quincy, IL, played a four-hour show, packed up, then hopped in the car and drove five hours home. The show was fun and the crowd was in to what we were doing, but what a haul! A lady in the crowd gave Duke and I new sunglasses. I snapped a pic of Duke wearing his.

Howl At The Moon 1/29/10

Joe, Bill and I performed most of the night with the main speakers off, I think. People had a hard time hearing what I was saying, and I think it was because something was set a little goofy somewhere in the house's sound system. That said, we still had people wanting to know how to find us online. HERE WE ARE!!!

Bob & Tom Show 1/27/10

Fun fun on the Bob and Tom Show this morning! We followed comedian Tom Mabe to perform Duke's football songs. Once again, Mark had a great Bass Talk segment. It went something like this:

"A bass player takes his wife to their doctor to see if the doc could help with their sex life. When he walks in, he tells the doctor, 'I think I may have a sexual disfunction like E.D. Can you help us?'
The doctor tells the woman to take off her clothes and lay on the exam table. When she does, the doctor walks all around the table, then looks at the bass player and says, 'You're fine. I can't get an erection for her either."

Colts Pre-Game 1/24/10

Duke and I performed as a duo for a tailgate party in downtown Indianapolis this afternoon. It was a little rainy as we set up, but it turned out to be a fairly nice day. We played for a couple hours, then the Colts played their way to a victory!

Bob & Tom Show 1/20/10

We performed for Bob, Tom, Chick & Kristi this morning for one of the last few times of the season. We're getting close to the Superbowl, so the Wednesday following that will be the end until next season. Mark had a chance to do another episode of "Bass Talk". It went something like this:
A keyboard player, guitar player, and a bass player were talking after a show one night. The keyboard player said, "I think my wife is sleeping with an electrician. I found a pair of wire cutters under my bed!" Then, the guitar player said, "Well, I think my wife's been with a plumber. I found a wrench under my bed!" The bass player finally spoke up and said, "I think my wife's sleeping with a horse. I came home last night and found a jockey under my bed!"

Indiana Live Casino 1/16/10

The Colts played tonight, so most of the first 2/3rds of our show was spent with people cheering for the T.V. while we performed. We still had a good show, and the people who stuck around after the game told us we sounded great!

Indiana Live Casino 1/15/10

Friday at the casino was fun. We had a good crowd, and I was feeling much better (after being sick all week). Tonight marked the first night I was able to use my new in-ear monitoring system. I was able to hear everything so clearly! We'll be back a few times in the next few months, and the in-ears will be very helpful.

Bob & Tom Show 1/13/10

Bill Ritter filled in for Mark Rohrman today on bass, but Mark called in for an episode of "Bass Talk". Duke had a good couple of tunes. Overall, the show was good, but I was getting sick, so I left right afterwards to go home and get back into bed.

Bob & Tom Show 1/6/10

Bob, Tom, Chick & Kristi returned this week after their vacation. We played our tunes, and then just before we got off the air, I wished my grandmother a happy 100th birthday. The guys then talked a bunch to and about my grandmother for about 10 minutes before the end of the show. As I was leaving, Tom gave me a blanket to give to her, which had embroidered on it, "Honorary Grandmother - You Rock" and the Bob & Tom logo. She loved it!

Mamaw's 100th Birthday Party 1/3/10

My grandmother turned 100, so Bill Ritter and I were joined by our nephew, Josh Holmes on guitar, to play for her at her party today! She danced with her youngest son, Bill Holmes, as we played a slow tune for her. My brother even came up to play bass on a few tunes! I hope my 100th b-day party will be as much fun as hers was...

Conseco Fieldhouse 1/2/10

Joseph Maddox, Bill Ritter and I played before the Pacer's game in downtown Indianapolis this afternoon. We performed in the concourse as people entered the building. They would stop and listen or dance for a minute before heading off to find their seats.

Joe sounded great in the reverb-y hallway, with Bill on top of every beat with his electric upright!

The Hyatt 12/31/09

The last gig of the year found us supporting Duke once again in downtown Indianapolis. The show was great, with Laura Steel introducing us, and playing right up to the New Year! The only odd thing that happened was a girl came up to the side of the stage on our break and asked me what kind of music we played. I told her we perform Duke's original material, and she said she had been dancing to it the whole first set. She then asked who Duke was, so I pointed him out to her. She paused, then asked me, "Does he play any Alicia Keys stuff?"
