Jack's Roadhouse 7/29/13

What a great show the fellas put on for the crowd tonight! Ian, Kevin and I all sang new tunes tonight, while Chris provided backing vocals as he played some great beats. Kevin and Ian swapped instruments at one point, and the crowd loved it. I had people asking for my originals, and then dancing their pants off while I played them. I also had folks show up because they read about me in the paper last week. Thanks to everyone for partying with us tonight. We'll return to Jack's in San Marcos, TX next Monday!

Tanger Outlet Mall 7/28/13

Kevin Humphrey and I performed today at the food truck court in the outlet mall in San Marcos for the lunch crowd. Kevin and I took turns singing old blues and rock classics, plus a bunch of our original tunes. By the end of the afternoon, it was about 100 degrees! At least we were under some shade. Fun show and good food!

AJ's Ale House NB 7/26/13

Tonight in New Braunfels, Texas, Vince Mejia and I helped Rhiannon celebrate her birthday! You may ask, who's Rhiannon? I don't know, but I do know that she had a good time along with the rest of the packed house at AJ's. Vince did a great job as I pushed his musical knowledge to its furthest limit. Now it's time for me to head home through what looks like to be an approaching storm!

Poodie's Hilltop 7/25/13

For my second show of the evening, I drove to Spicewood, Texas to play another great show with The Hill Country Gentleman. The show felt very tight from a musical point of view. We were about halfway through our night, when in walked a group of fans from my shows in Marble Falls, Texas! It was great to see the old gang again! They really brought life into that room as we played the end of our show. Thank you for coming out to see the Gents!

Superfly's 7/25/13

Despite all the construction that's going on in San Marcus near my favorite record store, we had a good crowd at Superfly's today for The Hill Country Gentlemen show. Jeremiah saying the Bob Dylan tune, "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You", and he sounded great. I also have to give props to Clay for keeping up on drums during that song, because it was his second time ever playing it. Kevin and Troy sounded great as they sang their respective songs. I had a good time as always!

Jack's Roadhouse 7/22/13

Jack's in San Marcos overflowed with the magical, musical energy of DanHolmesGroup. Chris' funky beats made the perfect bed for Kevin's fat bass to lay on. Ian reached down deep inside to recover his slickest guitar licks just before a surprise guest showed up. Ruben Colon once again made an appearance with his trombone to play some tunes with us. I really had some fun tonight, barreling through a couple long sets of tunes. Never a dull moment with DHG!

AJ's Ale House NB 7/19/13

As you may or may not know, I play piano in many different capacities. Tonight's show in New Braunfels, Texas, was of the request-based piano show variety. Last nights show was with the Americana band, The Hill Country Gentlemen. Tonight, my worlds collided. The Gents were across the street at another bar, and after their show, they came to watch my piano show! Big crowd at AJ's, and Mikey Gammon and I rocked the house!!!

Saxon Pub 7/18/13

Tonight's show in Austin had a much better turnout than our last show there. Clay, Kevin, Jeremiah, Troy, and I performed for about an hour and a half. We had really good energy tonight, and the crowd recognized that. We started at 11:30 PM, and there were already people waiting to hear us at that point. Saxon has a really good sound system, so it was very easy to hear our vocals. Smiles all around from the Gents tonight!

Superfly's 7/18/13

Kevin did windmills on his guitar in San Marcos tonight. Jeremiah missed it, I think. He was standing behind Troy. Clay was told by Kevin to go as Ron Swanson for Halloween. I enjoyed the show. This is an informational blog entry.

Jack's Roadhouse 7/15/13

Jack's in San Marcos, TX was pretty busy for a Monday night. Ian Lee, Kevin Humphrey and Chris Wallis and sounded great, and I was happy to be gigging with them once again! We had lots of friends in the crowd, including The Hill Country Gentlemen's bassist, birthday boy Jeremiah Sawyer, who sat in on a Beatles tune with us. Also, Ruben Colon brought his trombone and played a bunch of tunes with us throughout the evening, which was fantastic. The highlight of the night was just before our last set, Kevin stepped outside and accidentally stood on an ant hill. The ants scaled his boot and ended up in his pant leg. I felt bad for him, but at the same time, his third-set dance moves were above average.

Saxon Pub 7/14/13

The Hill Country Gentlemen performed in Austin, Texas last night at the famous Saxon Pub. Just a small crowd for our late night, hour-long set, but I think we sounded great. I shared the stage with Clay, Jeremiah, Troy and Kevin, and I'm happy that we are starting a working relationship with Saxon!

AJ's Ale House NB 7/13/13

New Braunfels, Texas was hopping tonight! Joe Resnick (drums) and I played one solid three-hour-and-fifteen-minute set to a very energetic crowd. At least four people were celebrating birthdays, so we sang to each of them. Even people who weren't out celebrating an occasion, were singing along and jumping in conga lines! To top off of the fun, I had a big group of ladies from Dallas who saw me on Thursday night, come back to party all night long with me and Joe. They told me that they don't usually like piano bars, but I was too entertaining to miss! What a nice thing to say!

AJ's Ale House NB 7/11/13

I headed to New Braunfels, Texas (after my show with the Gents in San Marcos) to perform a solo, request-based piano show. At first, I thought it was going to be a slow night, because there were only a few people in there for the first half hour. But then, the floodgates opened, and people poured in to pack out the house! I can overflowed with requests from 9 PM until I ended at midnight!

Superfly's 7/11/13

The Hill Country Gentlemen pulled out all the stops tonight in San Marcos, Texas. We performed an hour-long set full of songs that are as yet unreleased. Clay joined us again on drums, and he's getting much more comfortable on all of our tunes. Jeremiah, Kevin and Troy were all in rare form tonight. Good crowd plus a little beer makes for an entertaining set. Thanks to all the employees at Superfly's for always making our in-store performances run so smoothly.

Jack's Roadhouse 7/8/13

Ruben Colon joined Chris Wallis, Kevin Humphrey and me at Jack's in San Marcos, TX last night to play some tunes. Ruben is a great trombone player, and I'm hoping to record with him soon. Chris and Kevin sounded great, as always, and they helped me keep the crowd at Jack's tonight. We made a few new fans, sold some CDs, and generally had a good time!!

Minute Maid Park 7/7/13

I teamed up with Joi Keeling from Howl At The Moon Houston last night to perform a Piano-Show-To-Go for Microsoft at Minute Maid Park, where the Astros play. We set up in Union Station and performed our two-hour show from 8pm-10pm for all the business people. I had a great time with Joi. She has a great voice! We had many compliments on the show as we were tearing down, so here's to another successful show!

AJ's Ale House NB 7/6/13

Tonight's piano show in New Braunfels, Texas featured me on piano, and the amazing Joe Resnick on the drums. I realized that I took nearly the same photo tonight as I did last night, while I was uploading it! Sometimes it's hard to get a picture of both players and the crowd during the sing-along portion of our piano show. One lady in the crowd came up, and said, "Hey, you're a new guy!" right after I took the picture. I just said thank you, because I didn't have the heart to tell her there are tons of pictures of me on this very stage with different drummers from all the shows I've played at AJ's.

AJ's Ale House NB 7/5/13

Mikey Gammon drummed through a bunch of requests which I was playing for the people in New Braunfels tonight. It was a big show with a packed house! I played for three hours straight, and the crowd hung in there with me until the last note.

Poodie's Hilltop Roadhouse 7/2/13

I drove out to Spicewood, TX to perform a show with The Hill Country Gentlemen this afternoon from 4p-8p. We're working with a new drummer, Clay Scott Rheinlander, and he sounded great. Jeremiah, Kevin and Troy all seemed to be in good spirits as we played a bunch of Americana, country, blues and rock for the people. As soon as the show ended, I darted out the door to go celebrate my wife's birthday at Jack Allen's Kitchen. Happy birthday, Christine!

Jack's Roadhouse 7/1/13

After last week's show, Kevin, Ian and I decided that since Chris Wallis wouldn't be at the show this week, we'd just play it as a trio. Then, special guest drummer, Chris Wallis asked to come to the gig this week, so of course I said yes. We had a great Monday night crowd. Ian and Kevin accidentally wore matching Mickey Mouse shirts, but I could still tell them apart. I had lots of people come tell me how much they enjoyed the band. I hope Chris decides to come play with us again!
