The Marc 3/29/14

My wife, Christine Barton-Holmes, took some amazing shots of The Hill Country Gentlemen at The Marc theater in San Marcos, TX, as we performed at a benefit event for American Widow Project. We performed several tunes from the Gents first album, as well as tunes from our forthcoming release, which I am currently producing. It was nice to do a show on big stage with pro sound with Clay, Troy, Jeremiah, and Kevin. I hope this begins a new phase of massive shows for the Gents!

AJ's Ale House 3/28/14

Roger Glenn and I performed our all-request show in New Braunfels, TX tonight to a packed house. We had a couple (and their full wedding party) who are going to be married tomorrow, another couple on their honeymoon, and a birthday mixed in with all the requests. The end of the night came with the crowd chanting for more, so I've got that going for me!

AJ's Ale House 3/27/14

A big crowd gathered in New Braunfels, Texas tonight to participate in the request piano show! There were several tables of Dan fans, and those tables brought brand-new, first-time guests with them. I had fun trying to play everyone's requests tonight, and I thank everyone for coming out to sing with me!

Superfly's 3/23/14

The Hill Country Gentlemen performed at a benefit for Make A Wish foundation in San Marcos, TX this evening. We did an hour-long set to a packed record store. The energy was high as we performed song after song. Thank you to everyone who made donations to the charity this evening!

AJ's Ale House 3/22/14

For my second show of the evening, I played an all-request piano/drum show across the street from my first show. Vince Mejia and I had the crowd on their feet doing conga lines, singing along, and requesting an impressive number of tunes. The energy level was high for this 3+ solid hours of show! Thanks to the Hill Country Gentlemen for coming over to see the show after they finished up their show!

Phoenix Saloon 3/22/14

For my first show of the evening, I joined with the Hill Country Gentlemen at Phoenix Saloon in New Braunfels, TX to perform an opening set for the group Shinyribs! It was a fun set with a packed house. The Gents sounded fantastic, and I was glad I was able to perform with them before I had to run across the street to do my second show of the night at AJ's.

The Angry Elephant 3/21/14

Roger Glenn joined me this evening in San Antonio, Texas for a request piano show! This was my second week in a row at this venue, and we had double the crowd of last week. Roger had a little technical difficulty at the beginning of the show but quickly rectified the problem. His snares simply fell off of his snare, and upon further investigation, a bolt had come loose. The nut for the bolt went missing so he quickly pulled a MacGyver and duct taped it for no more problems the rest of the night!

Saxon Pub 3/19/14

The Hill Country Gentlemen played an hour-long set for the people of Austin, TX tonight. I felt good playing some tunes which allowed me to stretch out creatively. We finished up at midnight, and I was really happy with the way the show came out overall. I'm excited to be on the Gents next release, due out soon!

Taxi's Piano Bar 3/15/14

We had a fun crowd tonight at Taxi's in San Marcos, TX. Besides lots of birthdays, we had the New Braunfels Fire Department Pipes & Drums come in for St. Patrick's Day. Clay Rheinlander was the drummer this evening with me, and he did great! Everything from "Centerfold" to Huey Lewis' "Heart and Soul" to "Jailhouse Rock" was played from requests tonight.

The Angry Elephant 3/14/14

Jason Corbiere joined me this evening in San Antonio, TX for my first request show at the venue The Angry Elephant. Jason sounded great, as always, and we played a little over three hours of requests. This was the first show I was able to bring out my big piano, too! I've been working on it for the past few weeks, and it was fun to use live!

AJ's Ale House 3/13/14

I'm telling you, things got goofy tonight in New Braunfels, Texas! I had an extremely fun crowd, and all of them were interested in singing, challenging my song knowledge, and laughing as I tried songs I didn't know. Everything from Chuck Berry's "Maybelline", to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" was requested. Thank you to the crowd for keeping it interesting!

AJ's Ale House 3/8/14

It was another insane night in New Braunfels, TX! Vince Mejia played the drums very well to every crazy request put on my piano. There seemed to be an endless amount of birthdays, anniversaries and bachelorette parties, so we treated them all to special songs depending on the celebration. Fun, fun, fun all night long!

HEB 3/8/14

From 5 PM to 7 PM today, I played a show with my buddies, The Hill Country Gentlemen. For those of you who don't know, H-E-B is a grocery store chain, and we played at one of their locations in San Marcos, Texas. Jeremiah, Clay, Troy, and Kevin all sounded great on their respective instruments. We had a few fans show up, and we made a few new ones. The only downside to the gig was afterwords, we had to load out our gear in pouring down rain! Now, I'm off to my second show of the night, this time at AJ's Ale House in New Braunfels.

Taxi's Piano Bar 3/7/14

Friday night in San Marcos was cool as I performed a request piano show with Taxi (drums). The crowd was very interactive, and they sang every tune I played, whether it was a really famous tune or a totally obscure song. We also had a couple of birthday girls up on the stage, dancing with each other like they were old friends! Good times.

AJ's Ale House 3/6/14

Thursday night in New Braunfels, Texas was full of birthdays! A couple of large groups of people came in to request songs and have a good time. I lost track of how many shots were delivered to the birthday tables. It was fine though, because it made them sing louder! Now I'm off to Taco Cabana to get a little post-show grub.

Evangeline Cafe 3/4/14

Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! I'm so happy to report on the show DanHolmesGroup performed in Austin, TX tonight. The place was packed, the band sounded great, the food was delicious, and I can't stop smiling! Ian Lee (guitar), Kevin Humphrey (bass), Jason Corbiere (drums) and I played an hour-and-a-half long set of both Mardi Gras classics and my originals. Creatively, I needed tonight because it's the first night I debuted songs from my new album, "Something's Going Down" and the guys played the tunes so well. Thank you, Austin, TX for giving us such a warm response on a cold night!

Muddle 3/1/14

I drove myself from San Marcos, Texas to Waco, Texas this evening to perform a show with Joe Resnick at the venue known as Muddle. This marked my second performance at this club, and it was another fun night. We had a large party celebrating a birthday at the front row table, complete with a cake in the shape of a "male member". Obviously, they were out to have a good time, and they stayed with us all night long!

AJ's Ale House 2/28/14

The crowd was so nice to us tonight in New Braunfels, Texas. Before I even hit my first note, the bar was half full of my favorite regulars and fans, and they made sure to overflow my piano with requests! I'm not joking when I say that I had more requests sitting on the piano before 9 PM than I sometimes have had all night on other evenings. Robin Mordecai was my partner in crime this evening, and it was my first experience with him performing drums. The crowd enjoyed everything we did, and my sincere thanks to all of the regulars at AJ's for making tonight very fun!
