The Saxon Pub 10/31/18

Happy Halloween! Jay Bleu had his album release party tonight in Austin, Texas. I played the gig as Chewbacca, horns as Cheech & Chong, drums and guitar as Wayne & Garth, a bassist as a bassist, and Jay as a rock star. The band sounded great, and I loved hanging out with them tonight. As an added bonus, not coordinated at all, a drummer friend of mine, Luis Balderas, showed up as Juan Solo while I was wearing my Juan Solo T-shirt! Lol!

The Lodge At Cypress Falls 10/29/18

Ian Lee and I mixed things up tonight in Wimberley, Texas. Not only did we play a bunch of jazz standards and swing tens, but we also played a few random 80s tunes, beetles, and originals. The crowd enjoyed it, and told us they like hearing our diverse styles. Next week, Ian will be performing with someone else because I will be in Portland, Oregon. I will return to Wimberley for our regular Monday night show in two weeks!

Moonshine Drinkery 10/27/18

I really need to go back sometime and count how many shows drummer Chris Wallis and I have performed together. All I know is that it’s a lot, and they’ve all been fun. Victoria, Texas, did not disappoint with the oddball requests tonight. I was shocked at how many songs were brought up to the piano which I have never seen requested before. The crowd enjoyed the show, and everyone left happy, so in my book, that’s a successful night!

Moonshine & Ale 10/26/18

Mike Sueiro and I took a bunch of really odd requests from the crowd in New Braunfels, TX, tonight. We played three-and-a-half hours of tunes, as we do in Fridays. Mike is a good guy to perform with, and I’ll be with him again in November!

The White Horse 10/25/18

I played a fun show with The Governors in Austin, Texas, tonight! Doug, Sean, Chris, Jeremy and I played to a packed dance floor, while Dave Simms mixed us. I think we sounded great together as we all traded off singing and soloing over some rockin’ country tunes. Also, The Governors debuted their t-shirts tonight! Way cool.

The Lodge At Cypress Falls 10/22/18

Ian lee and I performed our song swap in Wimberley, Texas, again this evening. I always enjoy the times I get to perform with Ian. We had a good crowd, and we’ve been asked to do our Monday night song swap through the end of the year! Part of what I enjoy so much about our Monday residency is the wide variety of songs we can perform. There are many things that we don’t normally get to do that we can do at this show. We play lots of swing, jazz standards, Beatles tunes, and other tunes that we enjoy. I hope you can make it out next week!

Greek Bros 10/20/18

All Request Piano made its debut in El Campo, Texas, tonight to a packed house! Heather Ray, Chris Wallis and I played tons of requests, while Christine Barton-Holmes took tons of photos of our show. Heather and Chris are a couple of my favorite musicians to work with, and they impressed the crowd. We had a great time, and I hope to return in the near future!

Rustic Ranch 10/19/18

I was happy to have Heather Ray perform with me tonight in Wimberley, TX, at Rustic Ranch for the wedding reception of Mr & Mrs Michael Tayler! We took requests, and swapped off instruments a couple times. Everyone danced all evening long. It was a beautiful venue, and great people staff it. I am honored that we were able to be a part of their special day. Congrats to the newlyweds!

Brauntex Theatre 10/18/18

I had a fantastic time with Jay Bleu and the band in New Braunfels, TX, tonight. We performed the music of John Mayer for a special hour-and-a-half long show. This was a talented and fun group of people to hang out with. The theater had tons of folks show up to see the show, and it was a treat to perform for them. The band included Jay Wimberley on vocals and guitar, Aris Pouncey on guitar (and bass for a few tunes), Mark Greenberg on bass, Andrae Blissett on drums, Alli Mattice on backing vocals, and I played keys. A big thank you to the staff of the Brauntex for having us out tonight!

Darwin’s Pub 10/17/18

Besides “Ace Of Spades”, Mikey Gammon and I took on something we didn’t know we knew. I’ll just leave this here.

Wynona's got herself a big brown beaver and she shows it off to all her friends.
One day, you know, that beaver tried to leave her, so she caged him up with cyclone fence.
Along came Lou with the old baboon and said "I recognize that smell, Smells like seven layers, That beaver eatin' Taco Bell!".
"Now Rex he was a Texan out of New Orleans and he travelled with the carnival shows.
He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars and he candied up his nose.
He got wind of the big brown beaver So he thought he'd take himself a peek, but the beaver was quick and he grabbed him by the kiwis,
and he ain't pissed for a week.(And a half!)
Wynona took her big brown beaver and she stuck him up in the air, said "I sure do love this big brown beaver and I wish I did have a pair.
Now the beaver once slept for seven days And it gave us all an awful fright,
So I tickled his chin and I gave him a pinch and the bastard tried to bite me. Wynona loved her big brown beaverAnd she stroked him all the time.
She pricked her finger one day and it occurred to her she might have a porcupine.”

Darwin’s Pub 10/16/18

Roger Glenn and I teamed up in Austin, Texas, to take requests. We had an awesome crowd! As the night wore on, no one left, which means they began to pile up as new people kept walking through the door. We had so much going on, at the normal ending time of 11:30p, the owner had us play an extra hour! I miss playing with Roger, and it’s a treat anytime I get to. Hopefully, we will be teaming up again soon. As an added bonus tonight, Danny Smith showed up and played drums on the last couple tunes. He’s a great player, too!

The Lodge At Cypress Falls 10/15/18

I love playing shows with Ian Lee! We swapped songs again in Wimberley, Texas, this time on a rainy afternoon. Every once in a while, a drip would form from the ceiling and grab my attention. But I didn’t miss any notes. Except for the ones I did.

Black’s BBQ 10/14/18

Lunchtime found me in Lockhart, Texas, performing with a couple great musicians. I joined up with guitarist Candler Wilkinson and basssist Josh Flowers for a gig, playing Candler’s original material and a bunch of old Western swing. We ate some great food and had fun. Candler is always fun to work with. This was my first show with Josh, and I hope to perform with him again!

Moonshine & Ale 10/13/18

I performed in New Braunfels, TX, with Mike Sueiro and Joe Resnick. We were busy all evening, filling requests from the crowd. It sure seemed like everyone was celebrating a birthday tonight. I had to sing it multiple times to huge groups of people. I’m just glad everyone enjoyed their evening!

Moonshine Drinkery 10/12/18

Heather Ray celebrated her 30th birthday in Victoria, TX, with me on stage, entertaining the full house! My wife took a bunch of great photos of the event. We had an endless stream of requests placed on the piano. I couldn’t stop laughing with Heather during the night! My face hurts from it. I’m glad we had such a great night on her birthday!
