Live Stream 8/29/20

Played my show from Lebanon, IN, tonight to a bunch of fun people! I had lots of great requests and a few unusual songs. My mother-in-law even got in on the action tonight by requesting “Hallelujah”. Thanks to everyone for tuning in and singing along!
After my show, I had a really nice message waiting for me on Facebook. I love being connected to so many great people!

Live Stream 8/28/20

I did a 2 hour show on AllRequestPiano tonight on Facebook. I haven’t been sleeping well recently, so I started the night a little slap-happy. That actually kinda worked in my favor for once because it let me settle into my show a little faster than usual. I helped a 9-year old super-fan celebrate her birthday, and played a bunch of requests for all the people hanging out with me. Fun night!

Dan and Bill Livestream 8/27/20

I needed this. Tonight, Bill Ritter brought his bass over to my parent’s house (where I’m live-streaming from while I’m in Indiana visiting) and we played A bunch of original songs for about 2 hours. We were able to stay about 8 feet apart, and he kept his mask on while I was singing, just to stay safe during this unpredictable  pandemic. I write stuff and release it regularly, but I don’t get many opportunities to perform my songs. Hearing Bill’s bass made me so happy, and it was fun to just talk and hang out a bit. I feel very fortunate that he’s been such a presence in my musical life!

Quarantine Keys 8/26/20

I had an earlier time slot tonight on QK, and met some new people! I played about 2.5 hours, and enjoyed all the requests I was given. It was a Beatles-heavy request night, which was fine with me. I love when I get to play Beatles!!

Live Stream 8/22/20

I sometimes think about how simple, yet really difficult it would be to explain to someone a hundred years ago what I do for a living. Easy answer; I’m a musician, and I play piano and sing. Hard answer would get me locked in a mental institution. “I sit alone in a basement, tapping on a thing which mimics a piano, surrounded by little glowing books, while singing at a black box where I imagine people from all over the country are enjoying the show.” My show on Facebook tonight was odd because people were getting kicked off for making too many comments. Which again, would be really difficult to explain to someone in 1920.

Quarantine Keys 8/19/20

I played a bunch of Beatles and Muppets songs tonight, and I was told I was charming. A couple of songs I wrote were asked for, which is great that a few people know some of my original tunes. Also, “One-Eyed One Horn Flying Purple People Eater” and “The Streak” were requested, and some Zeppelin. Kinda all over the place during my 3 hour show on the QK page. That’s what I like about this show. It’s completely random.

Live Stream 8/15/20

My Facebook livestream started with some technical problems, audio related. I finally got up-and-running and had a great time with a fun crowd of people. Then, about halfway through the show, my music stand popped loose and dumped my iPads and gear I use for monitoring the stream. I laughed and picked it up, and continued with the show. An hour later, the internet went out for about five minutes, and when it blinked back on, I figured it was a sign to stop! 2020 is out to get me. I had lots of fun, and enjoyed all the various conversations I had with people throughout the night. My awesome partner Heather helped me out remotely with the stream, and even sent me a video of her doing her part in a Bowie tune!

Live Stream 8/14/20

Friday night online! Facebook was full of friends and fans. Heather and Christine helped me with keeping the requests in line as they flowed in throughout my 2.5 hour show. I had to look up a few songs, but I enjoyed the challenge! I’ll be doing another live stream tomorrow night (Saturday) so get your requests ready and tell all your friends (like Barney in the army, Ray the green beret, and Steve the coast guard).

Quarantine Keys 8/12/20

I set up a remote livestream spot in my parent’s house while I was in Indiana to play on the QK page tonight. It was a welcome distraction from the stress of the week, month, year, what have you. I played three hours of tunes for people from New York to California and everywhere in between. I had fun trying some tunes I’d never played before, and talking to some new people on the feed. Thanks to my parents for letting me sing way past their bedtime!

Live Stream 8/8/20

Heather and I did our first separate city live stream on Facebook tonight. She was in Texas, and I was in Indiana, and there was about a 32nd delay between our feeds which made it impossible to talk to each other, which made it hilarious. I’ve never had a show with more technical glitches and more laughter. Heather is a trooper, and just pushes through all random problems we encounter. I even got a chance to dance with my wife see you tonight for the first time in two weeks!

Live Stream 8/7/20

Even though it’s a little weird, I enjoy live streaming. It is obviously different than performing on stage, but there’s a more personal interaction that can happen during a live stream. Tonight, there was a large percentage of the crowd viewing from Indiana.  I had requests for four different original tunes, plus some great songs by Phil Collins, Carole King, and Ray Charles. Heather was doing admin for me, and even when we’re not in the same room, I still enjoy connecting with her during shows. She’ll be live streaming from the All Request Piano page on Facebook tomorrow night, so tune in!

Quarantine Keys 8/5/20

I love being able to still perform for people, even during lockdown. I’m regularly live-streaming, and making new friends from all over the country. Thanks to QK for having me every Wednesday night!

Live Stream 8/1/20

I always, always, always have a great time with Heather! She is so much fun to perform with, and a fearless musician. Unless you’re also a musician, it’s hard to describe how much guts it takes to go live in front of people and attempt to perform a song you’ve barely heard and never tried to play before, and then do such a great job every time. That’s what Heather and I do regularly, and she always impresses me. On top of that, she and I can’t stop laughing as we play, which just makes everything so pleasant. Ahhh.

Quarantine Keys 8/1/20

Heather and I performed on the QK page for about an hour and a half, starting at 4p today. It’s been a while since we did a mid-afternoon show, but it was just as fun as always! We have a 2nd Facebook show tonight at 8p on the AllRequestPiano page.

Live Stream 7/31/20

Performing with Heather is an absolute joy! We had an amazing time tonight on Facebook with a bunch of people. Lots of requests and laughs, and of course, music. Heather makes me happy, and just hanging out makes 2020 a little easier. We’re doing another show tomorrow, and I’m excited! Yay!
