7th & 8th Church Service 1/27/08

I played for service today. It is so hard to do a gig this early after being out so late at the gig last night. I also worked on a couple of new songs for the next album this morning.

Zydeco's 1/26/08

Lamon Brewster, (the great boxer and my good friend) was at the show tonight. He brought his crew from L.A. to ink a deal at the Fieldhouse in downtown Indy. He hung out with us until an hour or so after closing time. We played a bunch of our stuff for his guys, and we may do a show or two with them sometime this year.

Papa Joe's 1/24/08

The crowd was a little thin due to the weather, but those who were there had fun. Bill and I pulled out a few new tune, and kept it mostly instrumental, due to the fact that I spent Tuesday and Wednesday on my couch sick. I feel fine now, but my voice wasn't up to a full night of singing. Thanks to all who stuck with us!

New SR5

Deb from Zydeco's helped me purchase a truck for DHG! It's all black and chrome with enough towing capacity for a trailer full of band gear!

Neat!! Thanks Deb!

7th & 8th Church Service 1/20/08

9:30am

I went to bed at 5:00am, and got up for church at 8:30am. Two gigs last night, playing for a total of about seven of the last thirteen hours before church, makes it hard to understand basic things like why I am upright. I lightly snoozed through the service, but didn't miss a cue.

I can't do this very many more times.

Zydeco's & Howl At The Moon 1/19/08

We started at Zydeco's right at seven with the world's quietest croud. They slowly consumed alcohol and slowly began to loosen up. The whole resturant was hoppin', and the staff kept up with the demands! We ended up making pretty good tips tonight. Thanks everybody!

At 10, I flew out of Zydeco's, Po Boy in hand, and made it to Howl by 10:35. The crowd was nuts, and the players were all in pretty good moods. We had a great time playing "Don't Stop Believing" 482 times.

This was Britters last night as a waitress at the world famous dueling piano bar! See you soon, B!

Howl At The Moon 1/18/08

Wild Bill fell ill! Dan lent a hand!

The crowd was subdued, but the real action happened on stage as a horn player became a little disgruntled with a piano player. Lots of loud, high pitched words were thrown around...

And then we finished the Bon Jovi medley!!!

Papa Joe's 1/17/08

Bill and I really cranked out the originals tonight! We even played a couple of tunes off of my CD "PURE" which is celebrating it's 10 year annaversary this year...

Pasadena King and Hurricane are the two we added back in the set. The crowd was so excited, they chewed twice as loud as usual! Maybe we should bring back the snowman...

Bob & Tom 1/16/08

The Colts lost on Sunday, so this is our last "Lord Help Our Colts" for this season. We still have a couple of NFL songs to go till the Superbowl.

One of my friends on the staff from WFYI came with me to veiw the Bob & Tom Show. She agreed that they are true proffessionals in every way.

And they have the coolest toys.

Boo Boo the Boh Boh

Bill and I drove to Kansas City on Sunday and returned today to begin work on a new cartoon. We will be doing the music and the recording of the voice over work.

I'll keep you posted.

Zydeco's 1/12/08

Tonight was a blast upstairs at Zydeco's in Mooresville! The crowd stayed for Bill and I, as we performed one long, three-hour set. Deb jumped on stage and sang her two favorites, "Big Spender" and "Brand New Key".

One day, Bill and I will learn "Big Spender" and "Brand New Key".

Papa Joe's 1/10/08

I hope this is the begining of a GigBlog series to last many years, but knowing how busy I am, I hope to write another one before 2009. ;-)

Tonight was full of fun, as a dancing snowman sat on the piano and stole the show. Bill and I played a bunch of our originals tonight, as well as the classics the Papa Joe's crowd loves.

As a test for the live CD we are planning for late '08, I recorded the show with my Handy Recorder (made by Zoom). Maybe a track or two will show up somewhere on the website... Look for some pics of the show soon.

Bob & Tom 1/9/08

Bob & Tom came back from vacation, and we got down to business as usual.

Fart jokes, political humor, and Tom trying to make Christie pick a slogan for a T-Shrit made today's show special.

Duke Tumatoe, Mark Rohrman and I played Lord Help Our Colts and The NFL song. Tom remembered to introduce me.

Zydeco's 1/6/08

11:00am

Ah, sweet, sweet coffee! Nectar of the Gods!

I was feeling a little loopy due to lack of sleep from last night's performaces. Bill carried me by promting each new song we played. The shrimp and cheese grits Carter made were awesome, as always. And, Adrian did Mal's special dance for us! If you haven't seen Mal's special dance, don't ask her to show you it in public.

Actually, don't ask her to show it to you at all.

Zydeco's & Howl At The Moon 1/5/08

Zydeco's was odd tonight, because most of the people who were there knew I was going to Howl tonight, so they began to treat Zydeco's like a dueling piano bar. After we shot that idea down, everyone danced as Bill and I played a bunch of New Orleans classics as well as a bunch of originals.

At 10:00, I flew out the door and headed for Howl in downtown Indy, where I dueled the night away! I left Howl at 3:00am. Now I hope I can get up in time for the brunch gig at 10:00am...

Howl At The Moon 1/4/08

Myself, along with Tod, Rob, Wild Bill & Desi dueled into the wee hours of the night.

Drinks were drunk. Songs were sang. What more can I say?

Papa Joe's & Howl At The Moon 1/3/08

I played a double gig tonight. First at Papa Joe's, Bill Ritter and I introduced the crowd to some New Orleans style piano blues. It was fairly cold out, so the crowd left early. Thanks to the die-hard DHG fans who stuck around until the 9:30 end of our show.

Next, I rushed down to Howl At The Moon, for some dueling piano action. I made it from Avon, IN, to downtown Indy in about 25 minutes. I thought I was on at 10p, but it turns out I wasn't due on until 11p. As I walked into the club, I recieved a text message from the entertainment director letting me know that it was slow enough that I didn't need to come in. I stuck around, and sure enough, business picked up within the hour.

"Don't Stop Believing" was requested 6 times. [>(

Bob & Tom 1/2/08

Bob & Tom were still on vacation, so Duke, Mark and I only played one song, "Lord, Help Our Colts".

Jimmy "Mad Dog" Matis hosted with a little help from Donny Baker (I swear to God he did!)

I pulled into the parking lot a little late, as they were going on the air. I hit a small patch of ice and fish-tailed my van, which they could see from inside the studio. They stalled for a minute as I set up my keyboard. Seconds before we began, I realized I had left the power supply in my van, so I ran out to get it.

All of this work for a two minute song. Pretty impressive, huh?

Howl At The Moon 12/31/07

Happy New Year's!!!!

I've rarely seen a more energetic crowd than tonights! The people were crazy, while waiting for the ball to drop. The dueling piano bar is a great place to have a party, and the people who were there for the big New Year's Eve smackdown know it's true.

See you in downtown Indy again soon!
