Tonight was Brian Yarde's last night at Howl At The Moon with us. He has a couple more gigs with Duke, and he will be missed. This week was a blast at Howl because of all the activities downtown. A Pacers game and the NCAA tournament was happening, so it was crazy. We had a good time!

Howl At The Moon 3/20/09
Howl was packed tonight! We ran through a bunch of new tunes and the crowd responded well. On a sad note, Brian Yarde, drummer extraordinaire, gave us his two week notice. As I mentioned last week, he & his wife are expecting their first child, so he has taken two full time jobs to make some money before the little one gets here. We wish the best of luck to him and his family, and he will be missed!

Zydeco's 3/19/09
Tonight, Bill and I performed to a small-ish crowd at Zydeco's, but at least they were very attentive. We sold a CD or two and played till 9p. Bill then hooked up a wah-wah pedal to his electric upright and ended our show...

B.L.U.E.S. 3/15/09
Chicago is crazy anywhere near St. Patrick's Day. It only being two days away, people were staggering around, wearing as much green as possible and generally having a good time. We played at a cool club with a small stage. Brian tried to say hello to a couple of girls in Japanese, only for one of them to reply to him, "We are not Japanese". Oops. The last set was a bit rocky, but we made it through. I drove us home after the show. My head hit the pillow at about 7:00am.

Bayview Gardens 3/14/09
This was the second time Bill, Brian, Duke and I performed together in this club in Richland, MI. The night seemed a little long, but the crowd was just into their dancing, so we just kept playing. All the girls wanted to marry Brian, all the customers wanted to buy Duke drinks, and Bill just wanted to trash our lighting rig. I just want to go to bed.
P.S. The club didn't comp our meals...which is kind of odd.

Rhino's 3/13/09
Plainwell, MI welcomed us to this small bar with a super friendly staff. We didn't have very much room to set up, but the crowd was very involved in the show. A very nice staff took care of us, and the owner bought a few of my CDs. They said they would like to have us back for their big summer fest!
Also, congrats to Brian Yarde and his wife Amanda. They just found out they are expecting their first child in November!

Zydeco's 3/12/09
Bill Ritter and I made $4 each in tips. I think we deserved at least $4.50, but hey, what can you do. The best part of the night was when a gentleman came up to Bill and I, declared he wasn't gay, and then gave us each a hug. His father was with him, and he had a good time dancing with the waitresses, who were at least 60 years younger. We of course had fun, and Bill and I pulled out a few things that will be released on my next CD.

Zydeco's 3/7/09
had a great time performing at Zydeco's. This was the first time I've played as a solo act. Bill Ritter was out of town, so I played all by myself. I had one of Carter's great steaks, and for desert, I was given a special piece of cake...

Indiana Live Casino 3/6/09
Brian Yarde, Bill Meyers and I played for a high rollers night at the horse track in Shelbyville, IN tonight. Bill Ritter is out of town for the weekend, so Bill Meyers filled in and did a great job. The place was packed. Several hundred people were there. We had fun, and the management wants us back soon.

Zydeco's 3/1/09
Brunch is always fun. Especially when the place is packed with people wanting to listen to good music and Bill and I are there on three hours of sleep. We sold some CD's and Allanah took a bunch of pics for us. Carter made great food (as always) and I'm always amazed how much energy I get from performing to a good crowd.

Valpo Jazz And Blues Fest 2/28/09
We followed Duke Tumatoe to Valparaiso, IN to perform at a festival consisting of two acts, us and the Jeff Brown Quartet. Not exactly what I would call a "festival", but it was still a good time. They were having a silent auction to raise money for the local YMCA. We played until 1:00am and then drove home to get a couple of hours of sleep before heading to Zydeco's for brunch. It seems like every month when we play brunch, the Saturday night before, we play somewhere very far away and very late. I got to bed about 5:30am...
