AJ's Ale House NB 6/29/12

New Braunfels, TX tonight with Joe Resnick steadily built as the evening went on, and the crowd grew to standing room only by 11pm! We played a full night of requests with some great ones mixed in with the normal tunes. The Police song "Roxanne" was played twice, as was Steve Miller's "Joker". My favorite request had to be the unintentionally funny "Queen Boheimen Rap City". I love it.

Uptown Piano Bar 6/28/12

It's always nice to play a real baby grand for a gig! The cool basement club in downtown New Braunfels, TX is a low-key club, and tonight was full of some laid-back requests. One thing I love is when the crowd decides to give me every Beatles song they can think of, and that's just what happened tonight. Thanks to the folks who were there to have fun with me!

Art House at the Jones Center 6/27/12

Tonight's rooftop gig in downtown Austin, TX at the Jones Center was a great event. Food, drinks and music at sundown made for a wonderful evening. We performed Ian Lee's tunes as the Fine Fellows, all acoustic. Chris Wallis on djembe, Errin Keith on acoustic bass, Ian Lee on acoustic guitar and violin, and I performed the show on accordion and bells. Every show becomes a bit more well-rounded with the Fine Fellows, and I'm enjoying each show!

Man, oh, man, these StageIt shows are increasingly more fun! Tonight, we did half of my tunes, and half of Fine Fellows material, written by guitarist Ian Lee. Chris Wallis and Errin Keith rounded out the band and sounded great. It was our first chance to perform my tune, "Violet Moon" and the guys stepped up to the plate on it. It's not an easy song, but the Fellows played it like they'd played it for ten years. I can't wait for next Monday night's show!

AJ's Ale House MF 6/22/12

The crowd was thick at AJ's in Marble Falls, TX with Joe Resnick and I, and they did what they do best: requested tunes and then danced as we played them. The requests were widely varied. Beatles, AC/DC, Prince, Tears For Fears, Tom Petty, Snoop Dog, Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi, Otis Redding and more! Joe sounded great as always, and now I'm off for a couple of days to camp on the beaches of south Texas!

AJ's Ale House MF 6/21/12

Marble Falls, TX saw the last visit of our favorite biologists tonight! They were working in our area for a while, and now they all are heading back to their homes around the country including Michigan, Minnesota, and California. Joe Resnick and I will miss them! Tonight, besides the biologist, we had the pool players table, the ironic mustache table, and the table of women who wanted to be known as "WOOOOOOOOOO!". Everyone sang, danced and requested tunes, and fun was had by all.

StageIt.com 6/18/12

Tonight's StageIt show was the best so far! I had much fun with Ian, Errin, and Chris performing for a bunch of people all over the country. With the six cameras in the studio, we have set up an easy way to focus on the group. This was the third show of our summer concert series, and the fellows sounded great! Please tell all of your friends about this new way we are bringing our music to the masses!

AJ's Ale House NB 6/16/12

Crazy night in New Braunfels, TX tonight with Chris Wallis on drums! The crowd did odd lap dances during "Friends In Low Places" and the running man during "Jessie's Girl". The requests flowed onto the piano from before we took the stage to after we ended the evening. Thanks to all of the people for hanging out with us for another fun show!

AJ's Ale House NB 6/15/12

New Braunfels was hopping tonight as I took requests from the crowd and played the tunes with Joe Resnick on drums. We had a non-stop onslaught of requests which really made the night fly by. By the time the night wound down, the people were dancing on the tables! Joe sounded fantastic, I had a great time, and I think the crowd had a fun night!

Uptown Piano Bar 6/14/12

It was great to perform on a real baby grand tonight in New Braunfels, TX. For my first show at the underground club, it was a little slow, but the folks who were there stayed with me all night. Very nice venue and people, and I'm sure I'll be back again. Thanks goes out to Josh Adams of 40 Rock Entertainment for the booking at Uptown Piano Bar!

So tonight we performed our second StageIt show, but we had a few difficulties. There are many new things to learn to broadcast shows they way we would like, and we learned about one of the servers we use wasn't processing our sound, so we did tonight's show (unknown to us at the time) without sending sound, only video. These things happen, but I'm sorry to those who tried to watch. Next week will be on-track. I'm really excited to have Ian performing some violin on a couple of tunes next week!

Pier 27 6/9/12

Saturday night in Kerrville, TX saw the return of Chris Wallis and I for the comedy-less comedy piano show at Pier 27! It was a fairly slow evening, but we still performed from 9p-1:30a for the lucky few who stuck around after to dinner to listen to us. The crowd did slowly build as the night reached its peak. Chris sounded great, and I had fun running through a bunch tunes with him tonight. Thanks to 40 Rock Entertainment for booking us!

AJ's Ale House MF 6/8/12

For one more time this week, I joined Joe Resnick in Marble Falls, TX for a request-based request show. People were out to have a good time, and we did our best to help them do so! The evening began with mostly ballads for some reason. Every time I would try to speed up to a more rocking song, I would get three more requests for slow tunes. So, we waited until they were ready before we rocked out the end of the evening! Joe sounded great on the drums, as usual, and I'll be back next week.

AJ's Ale House MF 6/7/12

What a long day I had, and a fun night with Joe Resnick in Marble Falls, TX! I drove from San Marcos to Kerrville to perform with Rob Roy Parnell, then from Kerrville to Marble Falls to perform with Joe, then Marble Falls back to San Marcos, where I'm about ready to collapse! 255 miles and over four hours of performance makes me a bit sleepy. It's about 2:35am right now, so I'll probably fall asleep by 4. That's early for me!

Kerrville Folk Festival 6/7/12

It was a beautiful day in Kerrville, TX for our show today! Rob Roy Parnell has put together a harmonica clinic, and he has taught it at the festival for the past several years. The big finish to his lessons is a all-out jam session with his full band, where each of his harmonica students can take a turn performing with us. Some of his students have performed with other musicians before, and some are novices, so it's a diverse group. Coffeeboy usually is on guitar, but this show, Mike was filling in. Fun at the Fest!

Triple Crown 6/5/12

San Marcos, TX saw the first show of the double billing of Dan Holmes Group, followed by the Fine Fellows. Both bands are the same line-up, Ian Lee on guitar, Chris Wallis on drums, Errin Scroggins on bass, and I performed on piano. Triple Crown heard a full hour of my tunes, then after a short break, an hour of Fine Fellows tunes, mostly written by Ian. I had a great time, and what made the night even better was finishing the evening with homemade cookies from the amazing baker Rebeca Valenzuela! Thank you!

StageIt.com 6/4/12

Our first live on-line show was a success on StageIt.com! Ian Lee, Errin Keith, Chris Wallis and I ran through six tunes for fans all over the country. This is going to be an on-going experiment in live video performances, so if you missed this one, please join us next Monday for our second live show. I had a great time with the guys this evening, and we have many more tunes to perform next week. A big thanks to Christine Barton-Holmes for running our cameras and mixer, and for chatting live with the people who were watching the show!

AJ's Ale House NB 6/2/12

Tonight started with a few panicked phone calls before the show in New Braunfels, TX. Drummer Chris Wallis got in touch with me about two hours before start time to tell me when he walked out to his car to head to the show, he discovered that someone had smashed in his windshield, making his car un-drivable. I was just glad he wasn't hurt, and after making sure he was ok, I called drummer Peter Lyman, who I had recently done some studio work with, and who was fortunately available to come perform with me at AJ's! Peter did a great job, especially being thrown in at the last minute. The crowd was great, and we had a good time keeping up with all of the requests. My favorite "tip" was two live roses for any Tom Petty tune...

AJ's Ale House MF 6/1/12

Man, what a great crowd in Marble Falls, TX tonight! They all flooded AJ's to make their requests to Joe Resnick and I to perform every song they could think of. Lots of dance tunes and classic rock, as well as a birthday party and the pink-shirted lady drinkers. Everyone wanted to hang out with us, so they stayed until we hit our last note! Thanks everyone for participating in the fun this evening!

AJ's Ale House MF 5/31/12

Marble Falls, TX saw the return of Joe Resnick and I for another Thursday night of requests from the crowd. We had a big group of teachers celebrating the coming of the summer season by requesting lots and lots of heavy rock and roll hits. Also, some of our regulars came out to request their favorite tunes, like Beatles and Jimmy Buffet. Joe sounded great as he showed his skills during a brief solo of "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", as per the crowd's chants!
