Well, the Gents went into the studio to do a quick take of a couple tunes for a student at the Art Institute. We did three takes, two of one song, and one shot of another. Chris, Kevin, Troy, Jeremiah and I needed about a total of twenty minutes, but the session took just a bit longer than that...

Jack's Roadhouse 4/29/13
San Marcos witness the return of Ian Lee's amazing guitar playing with DanHolmesGroup at Jack's tonight. I'm so happy to be sharing the stage with him again. The show went great, as we had a bunch of friends out dancing and watching the show. I gotta say, Chris Wallis (drums) and Kevin Humphrey (bass) are really a treat to perform with. Tonight, they really locked in, so by the time Ian and I began our solos or singing, it was like buttering warm toast. Thank you again to all the people who are supporting us. This band will be releasing some tunes soon, and I'm proud to have these fellas helping me bring my songs to life.

Cheatham Street Warehouse 4/28/13
What a fantastic show with The Hill Country Gentlemen tonight at Cheatham Street in San Marcos, TX! I had a ball performing with the rock solid bass of Jeremiah, Troy's strong vocals, Kevin's tasty guitar licks, and the always groovy Chris Wallis on drums. His event was the after-party show for the LoneStar Music Awards, which took place at a Texas Music Theater a few blocks away. Lots of stars and up-and-comers were honored at the awards ceremony, and lots of them showed up to hang out at Cheatham. I was humbled by the amount of compliments from the crowd of music fans and peers I was given after we performed. Maybe sometime soon, the Gents will be the ones accepting an award!

AJ's Ale House MF 4/27/13
My third gig of the day ended with craziness in Marble Falls, TX at AJ's with Cade Callahan on drums! People steadily filed into the club from about 9:30p to 10:45p, and by 11:15p, the party wouldn't stop. Some of our favorite fans came out to sing along, like the (pictured) Crystal, and her Krewe. Cade sounded great, and the peeps in da club liked his style.

The Hitch 4/27/13
The Hitch is a trailer-park eatery in San Marcos, TX, and the location of my 2nd performance of the day, this one with The Hill Country Gentlemen. We did an acoustic set, so I bounced between accordion and snare drum, Troy played spoons when he wasn't playing guitar or harmonica, Jeremiah debuted his upright bass skills, and Kevin brought his dog onstage for some howling background vocals. Fun show indeed!

AJ's Ale House NB 4/26/13
A packed house in New Braunfels made the night fly by for Brad Evilsizer and me. We had lots of requests and several big tables of party people. Brad helped me get the crowd into singing along, and by the end of the evening, the people were asking for more. Another great AJ's show added to the history books!

Jack's Roadhouse 4/22/13
Surprise! Ian Lee showed up and sang a tune with Chris Wallis, Kevin Humphrey and me at Jack's in San Marcos tonight! It was great to share the stage with Mr. Lee again. The rest of the evening, Chris and Kevin made the undead funk of a hundred records move and groove so I could easily sing and play all night. I feel us getting tighter as a band with every performance. Tonight, we even had one person fly in from Vegas...but that's a different story.

T's Hide A-Way Bar 4/20/13
The Hill Country Gentlemen took over Conroe, TX last night with the help of drummer Chris Wallis. This was Chris' first show with the Gents, and he did a fantastic job. Jeremiah, Kevin and Troy performed as a three-piece a night earlier, so Chris and I just met them at the club. I drove in from San Marcos, and drove home after, which made it 3 hours there, 1 hour set-up, 4 hours of playing, 1/2 hour of tear-down, and 3 hours home totaling a 11-1/2 hour gig for me!

AJ's Ale House NB 4/19/13
Brad Evilsizer and I played to a packed house in New Braunfels. The staff at AJ's was slammed all night long, with shots and beers being delivered about as fast as requests were coming to the piano. Brad and I kept up with all the songs possible, and the people who filled AJ's left happy. A big thanks to Krystal's Krewe for working so hard tonight serving drinks and still taking a moment to have a picture taken with the musicians!

AJ's Ale House NB 4/18/13
The always perky Michael Gammon joined me in New Braunfels to play a bunch-o-tunes. For some reason, the crowd was into listing all the songs they wanted to hear, then making one big request at a time. The very first request of the night had had about 15 songs on it, then the second request had about 8, and the third had 10. 33 songs requested within the first 10 minutes of the show is pretty impressive.

Jack's Roadhouse 4/15/13
Kevin Humphry and Chris Wallis sounded great tonight at Jack's in San Marcos as we ran through some unrehearsed tunes, along with our blend of New Orleans-inspired sets of tunes. We added an old tune I wrote a while back called "Me and Mine", and I really enjoyed the way it came out. The fellas made it feel like a new tune again, and I'm happy it's back in the show!

Triple Crown 4/13/13
My second show tonight with the Hill Country Gentlemen was in San Marcos at Triple Crown for the first-annual Hill Country formal. Everybody looked so frilly in their best Sunday-Go-To-Meeting clothes. With four bands on the lineup, the people were treated to the very best music to dance to all night long. The show was great, and I had lots of fun with the Gents tonight. No scorpions were harmed during the performance of this show.

Canyon Lake Private Party 4/13/13
I played with the Gents this evening near Canyon Lake for a few folks who first saw us at Gruene Hall. It was a beautiful evening for an outdoor show! The homeowners built a stage for us, and people gathered around in their lawn chairs to watch and listen. The Gents all sounded great, and we sold a few CDs and T-shirts to the crowd. During the last song of the night, Jeremiah caught my attention to point out a scorpion walking towards my foot. The scorpion didn't hear the end of the song.
AJ's Ale House NB 4/12/13
Roger Glenn drummed his little heart out tonight in New Braunfels, TX. I was there, playing piano beside him, and heard every heart-felt paradiddle. At one point, the crowd even asked for a good drum-fill in a random rock tune, and so that's what they got. He filled enough for a dozen pies! Miss a little, miss a lot at AJ's.

Jack's Roadhouse 4/8/13
A freshly balded Wallis and newly Biebered Humphrey joined forces like snapping some funky Legos together at Jack's tonight. I was allowed access to the room of funk to lay down my piano melodies for a bunch of the regulars, and also some people visiting from New Orleans. Dancing, singing and a bunch of French Fries were the flavors tonight. Fun fun fun!!!! Come out next Monday to our second San Marcos home!

AJ's Ale House NB 4/6/13
Joe Resnick and I played to a full house in New Braunfels, TX tonight! Lots of first-timers in the crowd, and they all came up to tell me how much they enjoyed our show after the gig ended. Joe played like the pro he is, and it was easy trying out some new tunes with his rhythm backing me. Thanks again to the people of New Braunfels for a great night!

Dog and Pony Grill 4/5/13
I traveled to Boerne, TX tonight to perform a Friday night show with Rob Roy Parnell. Also joining me, the great Pat Whitefield on bass, the funky Chris Wallis on drums, and the soulful Rafa "Coffeeboy" Ibarra on guitar. As the night progressed, the temperature dropped quickly, which made me glad we only played until 10:30p outside on the deck. I had fun, as I usually do, performing some blues with the fellas. My favorite conversation of the night was between Rob and a confused man who said "Rob, you look just like your father, Lee Roy." Of course, Lee Roy is Rob's brother. Oops.

Jack's Roadhouse 4/1/13
Craziness was prevalent tonight at Jack's in San Marcos, Texas! We had a good sized crowd of friends and fans out to dance and listen to some tunes of ours. Kevin Humphrey on bass stayed in the groove with funky diligence, as Chris Wallis snapped his snares with reckless abandon. I had a bunch of fun playing tunes with those two fellas tonight, and it was obvious to the folks in the crowd, judging by all the compliments I was given after the show. Thank you, everyone!
