Moonshine & Ale 7/28/18

Man! What a fun night with a whole bunch of friends and crazy patrons in New Braunfels, TX! My wife, Christine, came to the show and met up with a couple of friends, Jeremy and Kelly, who came in from Bakersfield, CA, to hang out with us. So when I wasn’t on stage with one of the two best musicians I regularly get the honor of sharing the stage with (Danny “Dan” Smith and drummer Roger “Dan” Glenn), I was laughing with my group at a table. The crowd brought us up an insane amount of requests, and we played as many as our time allowed. Afterwards, we took the party to where many great parties go to die: IHOP. After regrettable food choices, we said goodbye to Jeremy and Kelly, and I hope to see them again soon! Thanks to Christine for a bunch of great pictures!

Darwin’s Pub 7/27/18

Tonight in Austin, Texas, I performed with my old pal, Roger Glenn! We took requests all night, and they had us play an extra half hour at the end of the night because it was going well. I love the fact that someone brought me the longest request I’ve ever seen tonight, which was four pieces of paper connected together to write the word “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” on it. That dude won the request game.

Moonshine & Ale 7/26/18

Live Band Karaoke in New Braunfels, TX, went great tonight. The beginning of the night was slow, but by the end, it was crazy. I enjoyed performing with Pancho and Andrae, as I always do. Thanks to all for a good night!

Rockey’s Houston 7/21/18

My third and final night in Houston (actually, Webster, TX, near NASA) was fun with drummer Zach Grindle. This was my first time performing with Zach, and he rocked!! The crowd couldn’t stop dancing and requesting bizarre tunes. I’m looking forward to coming back in the future to this cool venue. Thanks to my wife for taking some photos for us! At the end of the night, I had a steady stream of people come up and tell me how much they enjoyed the show, which made me feel all squishy inside. Thanks, Rockey’s, for a fun weekend!

Rockey’s Houston 7/20/18

My second night in Houston was tons of fun! My brother and my wife came to hang out, and a couple of old friends from San Marcos, TX, surprised me by showing up, too. The crowd was involved with us as we played all the Ironic hits. Christine (my wife) took a bunch of good photos while she watched the show. This was my first time playing with drummer Mike Miller, and he was fun to work with. I dig this new room down near NASA!!!

Rockey’s Houston 7/19/18

Tonight was my first night at Rockey’s Piano Bar in Houston, and also my first night performing with drummer Chris Boise. He was solid, and he hung onto all the random left turns the crowd kept taking with their requests. It was a good Thursday, and we had a wide variety of requests, from Queeen to Melissa Etheridge to The Darkness. My favorite request of the night was for “Night Moves” by Bob Seeger, paid for with six “forever” stamps. Those things only increase in value, ya know.

Moonshine & Ale 7/14/18

Had a great time performing with Michael and Roger in New  Braunfels tonight! Once again, those two fellows helped me put on a great show for an incredibly full house. If you weren’t there, you missed a lot! I’ll just leave it at that.

Cibolo Studios 7/11/18

I did a recording session in San Antonio, TX, for Jay Wimberly (Russell, Bleu). I think we knocked out the keyboard tracks on six tunes during the session. Jay’s album is sounding great! I’m looking forward to the final mix!

Moonshine Drinkery 7/7/18

Brian Carlisle joined me in Victoria, TX, for request-taking madness. It’s been a little while since I’ve had the chance to work with Brian, and it was great to play with him again. We weren’t terribly busy, but again, it was fun. I think the Fourth Of July threw off everyone’s schedule, but I’m glad for the people who joined us tonight! Thanks to my wife, Christine, for taking some photos tonight!

Moonshine Drinkery 7/6/18

Victoria, Texas, was a little slow tonight, but Chris Wallis and I still had a good time playing requests from the crowd. Even though there weren’t a ton of people there, we had a steady supply of requests to choose from. My wife came to the show and gave us some great requests, too! I enjoyed the note we got from a happy couple in the crowd which said, “You made a bad day end very well. Thank you.” It’s hard to have a bad day with good music. It’s always fun playing with Chris Wallis!

The White Horse 7/5/18

I had a great time making music with Wilkinson’s Quartet, with Candler Wilkinson, Huck Johnson, and Russ Patterson in Austin, Texas tonight. We played 8p-9:45p for all the swing dancers and good folks in the crowd. I enjoyed my evening with such talented musicians, and I’m sure I’ll get another chance soon!

Moonshine & Ale 7/3/18

Happy 4th Of July!!! Heather Ray and I performed in New Braunfels, TX, for the night-before celebration. We had a good crowd with lots of requests. Heather sounded great on both piano and drums as we alternated all evening. The most interesting comment of the night was on a request for “Piano Man” which said, “Thank you, my wife and I favorite, we survived flight 1380 out of New York that almost crashed”. The crowd applauded the couple when I read this to them. I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic 4th Of July, and we’ll see you again soon!

Native Hostel 7/1/18

Today, I played a bunch show with Candler Wilkinson Quartet in Austin, Texas, from 1p-3p. I had a great time playing a bunch of Western swing tunes. This was my first time with this particular rhythm section, consisting of Huck Johnson on bass and Russ Patterson on drums. They were bunches of fun to work with. Solid players. I look forward to the next gig with Candler’s group!

Moonshine & Ale 6/30/18

I played my first request show with the talented Holly Cloyd tonight in New Braunfels, TX. Joe Resnick drummed in his awesome drummer way for us, as we brought up random folks from the crowd to celebrate various special life events. I enjoyed the evening, and Holly was great to work with. Joe on the other hand...ha! Joe is always great to work with. Fun times all around!
