Moonshine & Ale 8/30/18
I played some keys in New Braunfels, TX, tonight for Live Band Karaoke, thus beginning my crazy fall schedule. The gig was fun with Pancho and Andrae, and it was gig number one of ten in the next ten days, before I head to Indiana for some shows with my original band. Here we go!

Darwin’s Pub 8/27/18
I performed a casual Monday show with Joe Resnick (on drums) tonight in Austin, Texas, on 6th Street. We helped someone celebrate her 21st birthday by letting her sing a song with us. We played some Beatles, and some Supertramp, and then it was time to go home. I like playing shows Joe!

Moonshine Drinkery 8/25/18
Chris Wallis and I performed our third and final show of this weekend in Victoria. The crowd was quiet tonight, but they brought up tons of requests. I had a hard time reading them, but the club stayed packed all night, and people did get up and dance, they just were unusually quiet in between songs. At the end of the night, a bunch of people approached me to let me know how much they loved the show, how they are planning to bring their friends next weekend, how they want to hire us for private events, and to give us bags of cookies because they liked what we did so much. At the end of songs, they’d raise a beer or nod their heads, but they didn’t clap. The show went great, just....quiet. Huh.

Moonshine Drinkery 8/24/18
We had a fantastic crowd in Victoria, TX, tonight! Chris Wallis (drums) and I kept them singing and dancing for three straight hours. There was random food like donuts and birthday cake, and lots of people drinking lots of drinks. I’m glad that everyone had such a good time celebrating their life events with us!

Rockey’s Houston 8/23/18
We laughed all the way to our gig in Houston tonight. Chris Wallis (drums) experienced Rockey’s (near NASA) for the first time this evening. I took unusual paired artist/song requests on the piano all night like “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Journey, “I Will Survive” by Aretha Franklin, and “Do You Believe In Love” by Tina Turner. We laughed and played them all.

Moonshine Drinkery 8/18/18
I performed in Victoria, Texas, tonight with Mr. Amazing, Chris Wallis! I never know what to expect when I play this room, which is fun for me. We played everything from “Putting On The Ritz” to “Whipping Post”. I think this room now holds the record for the greatest variety of requests of any room I play. I’m glad I get to share it with my buddy Chris.

Moonshine & Ale 8/17/18
I teamed up again with Liz Fohl in New Braunfels, TX, to take requests on piano. “Born To Be Wild”, “Wannabe”, “Joker” and lots more were played. We played a few tunes to honor Aretha Franklin, too, as people were thinking of her after her recent passing. She was the true Queen Of Soul, and I was happy to play some Aretha for the people. Liz sounded great, and I hope to perform with her again soon!

Moonshine Drinkery 8/11/18
My third of a three-night run with Heather Ray was very entertaining in Victoria, TX! I dig partnering up with her. We make a good team on stage. The crowd brought us a bunch of tunes for us to play, and they enjoyed our swapping between drums and piano every now and then. The people in Victoria are really good folks, and it’s neat that I get a chance to perform for them so regularly. Heather, as always, rocked the show. We both played harmonica on “Piano Man” tonight, and we sang the song without taking the harmonicas out of our mouths. It’s probably my new favorite way to sing it. Heather will return to Victoria next Friday, and I’ll be back next Saturday! See ya there!

Moonshine Drinkery 8/10/18
My face hurts from laughing so much tonight. Heather Ray and I performed at our favorite spot in Victoria, TX, to a bunch of regulars and newbies. We kept cracking each other up through almost every tune we played. I played piano most of the night, and she was on drums, but we did swap off for a little while towards the end of the evening so passionate fans could see us rotate on the instruments. Too much fun was had talking about current and future shows, plus I learned what “gleek” meant tonight.

Gemini Sushi and Business Lounge 8/9/18
Tonight in Corpus Christi, TX, Heather Ray and I represented New York-based “Shake Rattle & Roll Pianos” for a night of dueling pianos at a sushi restaurant. We had a great time and ate some great sushi! The crowd brought us up a plethora of songs to play, and an endless string of compliments about our show. I love performing with Heather, and I’m glad we had a chance to represent “Shake Rattle & Roll Pianos” for the first time. Thanks!

Gruene Hall 8/8/18
Candler invited me to perform with Wilkinson’s Quartet in Gruene, TX, tonight. Yes, there were five of us. Enough math. The gig was fun!! I thoroughly enjoyed playing with Candler, Chris, Curtis and Matt. We had a great crowd listening to all the Western swing we could play from 7p-11p. I hope I get a chance to do it a again soon!

Stadia Sports Grill 8/4/18
David Lee and I met up in Pearland, TX, to duel on pianos tonight. We had a great crowd that kept requesting tunes for our 4.5 hour gig. David is a bunch of fun to perform with, and the crowd was very complementary of our show. We even talked to a few different folks about doing some private shows in the future!

Moonshine & Ale 8/3/18
I performed for the first time with fellow North Central High alumni Liz Fohl in New Braunfels, TX, tonight. By a complete random occurrence in the universe, I found out Liz and I grew up near where I used to live in Indiana, and we somehow had never met in the crazy-small piano world we work in. I enjoyed performing with her, and I had a great time with all the people out enjoying life in the packed club. I’ll be performing with Liz again in a couple weeks. Come see us!

Moonshine & Ale 8/2/18
Live Band Karaoke with Pancho Garza and Andrae Blissett was fun in New Braunfels, TX, tonight! We had lots of singers, and we were making each other laugh all night. I will return to Moonshine & Ale tomorrow to take requests on piano!

Darwin’s Pub 8/1/18
I had a chance to see Scarlet Ray Watt perform on 6th street in Austin, TX, before my Wednesday night show with drummer Roger Glenn. Scarlet is always cool to me every time I see him. So is Roger Glenn, for that matter. I know sometimes I say “we had unusual requests tonight” in my blog, but tonight really set the bar to a new level. “Hocus Pocus”, “Ooh La La”, “Mother”, “Friend Of The Devil” “Skeleton” and “That Summer”, just to name a few, were some of the absolute weirdest requests I’ve had in a while. It was a fun night, though. It’s good to be challenged now and then!
