Moonshine & Ale 6/30/19

I performed with Pancho Garza’s band “The Juke” in New Braunfels from 6p-9p on this nice Sunday evening. We played a bunch of cover tunes, mostly 60s & 70s rock. This is a talented group, and it was a good gig. Most of these same players will be performing again at the Eagles tribute on Wednesday this week at Moonshine & Ale!

Moonshine & Ale 6/29/19

Heather and I (along with drummer Jay) took a bunch of requests tonight in New Braunfels, TX! We had a ton of fun playing through all the tunes from the crowd. Heather was making me laugh all night, and I got in a few jokes, too. Jay was on all the random tunes we threw at him, and the women even chanted his name. It was a rock-solid night of music, and the keytar even made an appearance or two. Thanks to Heather for making it a great night!

Moonshine & Ale 6/28/19

Dave Lovett and I played to a packed room in New Braunfels, TX, tonight for my 2nd of 2 shows today. We had 300 people warbling along with us! The night started off busy, but with very few requests. It took a little while for people to get in the swing of things, but when they did, boy, they did! I’m pretty tired now. Think I’ll go home.

Typhoon Texas Austin 6/28/19

I performed A dueling piano show with Gray Gregson and drummer Chris Wallis this afternoon in Pflugerville, Texas. They were having some sound system issues at the park, but we played straight through all of the technical difficulties. The people in the pool were singing along with us as loud as they could! Now, I’m on my way to do my second show of the evening in New Braunfels!

Moonshine & Ale 6/27/19

Live Band Karaoke was fun tonight! There was even a random, unexpected harmonica solo! Andrae, Pancho and I held down the musicial end while people from the audience came up to sing. And that harmonica solo? Yeah, she had a “C” harp, and played on “Hotel California” in B minor. The crowd loved it, but it hurt Pancho’s feelings and sense of musicality.

Darwin’s Pub 6/26/19

I performed a whole buncha tunes on 6th Street in Austin, TX, tonight with drummer Mikey Gammon. We played our 9p-midnight show for a fun group on a lazy Wednesday night. It was a little muggy outside, but we did our best to keep it chill inside! Ha!

Kissing Tree 6/25/19

DanHolmesGroup performed in San Marcos, TX, today from 7p-9:30p. It was a little warm, but there was a good breeze which helped us out. My old buddy Kevin Humphrey filled the guitar spot, while the enormously talented rhythm section consisted of Abe Combest on drums and Curtis Sigurd on upright bass. I enjoyed myself tonight! I feel very fortunate to know so many great musicians willing to perform all my original material mixed in with my favorite New Orleans covers. The crowd came up one by one afterwards to let me know they’d love for us to return, so maybe we’ll be back sometime soon!

Darwin’s Pub 6/24/19

Joe Resnick and I held down the the request show tonight on 6th Street in Austin. We had a good-sized Monday night crowd, and they brought us up bunches of tunes to play. One nice fella even told us that he thought we were so good, that we should have our own show. I gently pointed out that he was currently watching our show, and he said, “Another one!” Fine by me!

Moonshine & Ale 6/23/19

I played a band show with “The Jukes” in New Braunfels, TX, tonight. It was a bunch of fun playing 70s, 80s, and 90s tunes with these musicians! The line up was Pancho Garza on guitar, Phillip and Lori Henderson on acoustic and vocals, Nick Lewis on bass, Gordon Bartling on drums, and I played keys and sang. We’re going to do it again next week, so come out from 6p-9p at Moonshine & Ale!

Tavern In The Gruene 6/22/19

I had lots of fun playing in Gruene, TX, with Pancho Garza today! We slammed though a ton of my original material from 5p-8p, along with a bunch of my favorite New Orleans-flavored cover tunes. Christine came out and took some pictures while listening with the rest of the appreciative crowd. Everyone listened to my lyrics, which hasn’t happened in a long time. I look forward to the next one!

Darwin’s Pub 6/21/19

Karli, Mikey and I did a dueling pianos show tonight in Austin, TX, on 6th Street! This was my 2nd of 2 shows tonight, and it was a solid night. By the end, I was ready for bed. Maybe I should stop typing now and start sleeping. Yeah. That sounds good.

Typhoon Texas Austin 6/21/19

I performed a dueling pianos show with Gray Gregson and drummer Chris Wallis this afternoon from 5p-7p. It was warm, but Gray took care of me by making sure I had some shade to escape into. I had fun performing with the fellas, and I’ll be back next Friday with then for some more dueling action!

Tavern In The Gruene 6/19/19

I filled in for Brett Cline on keys tonight at the open stage jazz jam, with Cameron Martin (drums) and Dane Bonecutter (bass). Honestly, I haven’t been that nervous in a long time on stage! I’m not necessarily a “jazz guy”, so I felt like I was holding on for dear life through the gig, but it went great. Dane and Cameron had my back, and the jammers all enjoyed themselves, so it turned out to be a fun and educational night for me. I hope I get called back one day to do it again!

Darwin’s Pub 6/17/19

I played a Monday night show in Austin with Joe Resnick. Joe is such a great musician. Once, after my brother first saw him play, called him a machine because he knows every song. He might argue that, but if he doesn’t, he knows how to appropriately “fake it”. Anyway, tonight’s show featured possibly the most Billy Joel I’ve ever had requested in one night. About every third song was Billy Joel. I didn’t mind. We played them all!

Darwin’s Pub 6/16/19

I played some piano in Austin, TX, (with Rich on drums) for my second of two Father’s Day shows today. It started storming about an hour into our Sunday night show, so we didn’t have a huge crowd but they also hung around all night. I’ll be back tomorrow night at Darwin’s!

Tavern In The Gruene 6/16/19

Happy Father’s Day! I played an afternoon set with “Pancho” Garza in Gruene, Texas, today. We played a whole bunch of my original tunes to some folks out having an afternoon drink with their dads. I had a great time, and I always like performing with “Pancho”. We might be doing a few more do I shows around, so keep an eye out for us! Tonight, I head to Austin for my second show of the evening.

Moonshine & Ale 6/15/19

Man! We had a great crowd in New Braunfels, TX, tonight! Hailey, Jay and I took requests and played all the random tunes people asked for. I got on the keytar several times throught the night, and we had so many compliments about our show afterwards, I felt like I was blushing. Thanks to everyone who came  and hung out with us tonight!

Moonshine & Ale 6/14/19

I performed with Danny Smith in New Braunfels, TX, tonight. A good crowd and few birthdays made the night fly by. Danny is good. You’ve probably seen him in College Station. If not, just tell him you’ve seen him in College Station. It gives him the little bump to his ego he needs. “HEY! Did you play in College Station?” most of the crowd asks on their way out the door. Yes. Yes, he has.
