Rockey’s Piano Bar 7/30/21

We had a great time in Round Rock, TX, tonight! My only regret was that when I was asked (from a woman in the crowd) how Heather and I met, I didn’t have time to tell her the full story, so here is the short version. 

“So very long ago, in an enchanted forest on a lost land, the wind whipped through the thick branches of the Elder Tree and produced a whistle directly above where a lone bobby-pin lay. These two random, yet familiar oddities seemed unremarkable, at first. Yet as the whistle blew over the bobby-pin, it began to spin!”

Cut to years later:

“A lot has changed since the days when Dan used to be a whistle and Heather was a bobby-pin.”

Moonshine & Ale 7/29/21

Live Band Karaoke was packed in New Braunfels tonight. It was like a Friday night on a Thursday! Heather led Pancho and I from the drums, and kept the show on track. Pancho is a pretty amazing guitarist, and Heather and I are always happy to share the stage with him!

Livestream 7/28/21

I decided to do an impromptu livestream on Facebook tonight, just for fun! I had several people pop on and request tunes, and it was good to just play a bit. My old friend Jeremy and his wife Kelly were even there, celebrating their 25th anniversary. Happy anniversary, you two!

Regency Fiesta 7/24/21

Roy Jala’s 50th birthday celebration tonight in McAllen, TX, included a full buffet of both traditional Filipino and Mexican food, a DJ, and AllRequestPiano as the main entertainment for the evening! Everyone was in great spirits, and enjoyed requesting tunes from me, Heather and Chris Wallis. They even had us go an extra hour because everyone was enjoying singing with us! The venue, Regency Fiesta, was very nice, and the staff made us feel welcome. Happy birthday, Roy! 

Moonshine & Ale 7/23/21

We had so many requests tonight! Heather and I swapped instruments and random jokes. The crowd sang and was really involved and excited! I always have the best time with Heather!

Moonshine & Ale 7/22/21

Live Band Karaoke in New Braunfels tonight was fun! A bunch of our usuals were in, but they all did new songs. That always keeps it exciting for Heather, Pancho & me to play tunes which don’t always get performed. Heather and I will be back for Friday night piano bar at Moonshine & Ale! 

Moonshine & Ale 7/17/21

Heather and I played a super-long show tonight in New Braunfels! I mean, the show was the normal 8:30p-1a, but usually, a drummer shows up at 10p. The drummer called in, so Heather and I did the whole thing straight, through! It was a great night, and Heather is a pure joy to work with. Thanks, New Braunfels, for a great evening! 

Rockin J Piano Bar 7/16/21

We played a bunch of ‘70s tunes tonight in Cedar Park, TX. We also had some duets, and we played them all. I love performing with Heather, and we’re together again tomorrow in New Braunfels! 

Moonshine & Ale 7/15/21

Live Band Karaoke was full tonight! Heather, Pancho and I led the singers once again through a night of tunes. The bar ended up covered in glitter, and one person was removed. New karaoke rule: no glitter allowed. 

Moonshine & Ale 7/9/21

Bachelorettes and birthdays filled Moonshine & Ale in New Braunfels, TX, tonight for our show! Heather and I were amazed at the sheer number of requests we had on the piano. We had a really appreciative crowd, and they sang along from the first song. My nights are always joyous when I get to perform with Heather, and I was so happy our shows this weekend were top notch! 

Moot Music Cafe 7/9/21

Heather and I live streamed on Facebook from 2p-4p today, and it was a bunch of fun! She was cracking me up with random outbursts like whale song. Frankie the Monkey was also on the feed, and so we threw random bananas out into the universe, too. We’re set up to do the 2nd Friday of each month on Moot, so join us next time! 

Moonshine & Ale 7/8/21

Tonight started slowly in New Braunfels, but by 9:30p, our Live Band Karaoke show was packed! Heather kept me laughing all night, and Pancho was great on guitar. It was kinda rainy, but people just kept coming in. We had a serious crowd by the end of our show! Heather and I will return tomorrow night to take requests for piano bar! 

Rockin J Piano Bar 7/2/21

Heather and I played in Cedar Park, TX, together tonight! We had a bit of a rough start because some of the drum pieces were missing when we arrived, but I made it work with lots of duct tape. Heather absolutely killed a bunch of tunes she’d never played before, and I wowed the crowd with my accurate description of the plot to “The Greatest American Hero”. People learned about William Katt, whether they wanted to or not.

We had a bunch of great singers in New Braunfels for Live Band Karaoke tonight. Heather kept the night moving smoothly from the drums, and rotated through the singers. I was glad to play on such a busy night!
