AJ's Ale House 3/8/14

It was another insane night in New Braunfels, TX! Vince Mejia played the drums very well to every crazy request put on my piano. There seemed to be an endless amount of birthdays, anniversaries and bachelorette parties, so we treated them all to special songs depending on the celebration. Fun, fun, fun all night long!

HEB 3/8/14

From 5 PM to 7 PM today, I played a show with my buddies, The Hill Country Gentlemen. For those of you who don't know, H-E-B is a grocery store chain, and we played at one of their locations in San Marcos, Texas. Jeremiah, Clay, Troy, and Kevin all sounded great on their respective instruments. We had a few fans show up, and we made a few new ones. The only downside to the gig was afterwords, we had to load out our gear in pouring down rain! Now, I'm off to my second show of the night, this time at AJ's Ale House in New Braunfels.

Taxi's Piano Bar 3/7/14

Friday night in San Marcos was cool as I performed a request piano show with Taxi (drums). The crowd was very interactive, and they sang every tune I played, whether it was a really famous tune or a totally obscure song. We also had a couple of birthday girls up on the stage, dancing with each other like they were old friends! Good times.

AJ's Ale House 3/6/14

Thursday night in New Braunfels, Texas was full of birthdays! A couple of large groups of people came in to request songs and have a good time. I lost track of how many shots were delivered to the birthday tables. It was fine though, because it made them sing louder! Now I'm off to Taco Cabana to get a little post-show grub.

Evangeline Cafe 3/4/14

Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! I'm so happy to report on the show DanHolmesGroup performed in Austin, TX tonight. The place was packed, the band sounded great, the food was delicious, and I can't stop smiling! Ian Lee (guitar), Kevin Humphrey (bass), Jason Corbiere (drums) and I played an hour-and-a-half long set of both Mardi Gras classics and my originals. Creatively, I needed tonight because it's the first night I debuted songs from my new album, "Something's Going Down" and the guys played the tunes so well. Thank you, Austin, TX for giving us such a warm response on a cold night!

Muddle 3/1/14

I drove myself from San Marcos, Texas to Waco, Texas this evening to perform a show with Joe Resnick at the venue known as Muddle. This marked my second performance at this club, and it was another fun night. We had a large party celebrating a birthday at the front row table, complete with a cake in the shape of a "male member". Obviously, they were out to have a good time, and they stayed with us all night long!

AJ's Ale House 2/28/14

The crowd was so nice to us tonight in New Braunfels, Texas. Before I even hit my first note, the bar was half full of my favorite regulars and fans, and they made sure to overflow my piano with requests! I'm not joking when I say that I had more requests sitting on the piano before 9 PM than I sometimes have had all night on other evenings. Robin Mordecai was my partner in crime this evening, and it was my first experience with him performing drums. The crowd enjoyed everything we did, and my sincere thanks to all of the regulars at AJ's for making tonight very fun!

AJ's Ale House 2/27/14

The all request piano show tonight in New Braunfels, Texas was full of people requesting songs, and then taking selfies. I'm not sure why, but Instagram and Facebook probably have 400 new shots of people at arm's length tonight. My photo is a selfie, with people at the front of the stage taking a selfie with me in the background. Meta-selfie!

KOOP 91.7 2/26/14

Tom Mahnke did a quick interview with me today on KOOP in Austin, TX. We talked about my new album, "Something's Going Down", and he played "Big Brass Band" from it. Thanks, Tom, for having me on!

Taxi's Piano Bar 2/22/14

The party in San Marcos, Texas was at Taxi's tonight! Brad Evilsizer played the drums while I did my thing on piano for the crazy crowd. I had a lot of fun this evening, mostly because the energy of the crowd was nonstop. Some friends of mine from other bands and other venues showed up to cheer me on! It was hard to believe, but from our second song until the end of the night, there were always people on stage dancing. Brad sounded fantastic, and I had a great time performing with him this evening!

AJ's Ale House 2/20/14

Thursday night in New Braunfels, TX brought me to AJ's for my request-based piano show. I had a couple come back for the second week in a row, a group of first-timers who all told me they'd be back again, and a whole bunch of tables of regulars. Lots of singing and dancing, plus the girl who always rents me a car for my long trips finally showed up to sing the loudest!

Sun City 2/16/14

Some serious blues was thrown down in Georgetown, TX tonight. I performed a show with Rob Roy Parnell and a great band including Jason Corbiere (drums), Scott Unzicker (guitar), Pat Whitefield (bass), and Derek O'Brien (guitar). The folks all danced to nearly every tune we played, which always makes me feel good. This was a fun group of guys to perform with, and I hope we get to do more shows together soon!

Taxi's Piano Bar 2/15/13

Brad Evilsizer and I rocked Taxi's Piano bar tonight in San Marcos, Texas. I played lots of random tunes, as is the case with every request show I perform. Brad is a solid drummer, and he did great this evening. Thanks goes out to him and to the locals for making tonight fun!

AJ's Ale House 2/14/14

Happy Valentine's Day! Clay Rheinlander's (drums) first night at AJ's in New Braunfels, TX was tonight, and what a good time we had. The crowd was very involved and ready to sing and dance to most everything Clay and I did. We did more than a few love songs for the couples to get their groove on, too.

Sadly, after the gig I stopped at a gas station on my way home to witness a sad sight (see picture).

AJ's Ale House 2/13/14

My solo piano request show went great tonight in New Braunfels, TX! People danced to lots of different requests, including "Do You Believe In Love" by Huey Lewis & The News, "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" by The Four Tops, "Hold Me Now" by Thompson Twins and many other random songs. Thank you to everyone for making it a fun evening with unique requests!

AJ's Ale House 2/8/14

Roger Glenn and I entertained a full house at AJ's in New Braunfels, TX last night. People were in the mood to sing and dance before we hit our first note, and they stayed until we finished our last song! I think they really enjoyed Roger's drum fills, because they asked for "Jack & Diane", "Freebird", and "In The Air Tonight" all in a row. Needless to say, we obliged.

AJ's Ale House 2/6/14

New Braunfels, Texas was experiencing some cold weather tonight! Granted, not as cold as the north and north east are experiencing, but still very cold for Texas. I had a good group of people come in to hang out and request their favorite songs, and they sang and drank to keep warm!

The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center 2/5/14

Howl At The Moon sent me on another great Piano-Show-To-Go tonight, this time it was located in The Woodlands, Texas with the talented David Lee Morris on the other piano, and the always amazing Joe Resnick on drums. The show, which was for the employees of the Hill's Pet Nutrition company, went great, and the crowd was very involved. David, Joe and I make a great three-way team!

Muddle 2/1/14

A brand-new venue in Waco, Texas was the site of my gig this evening with drummer Roger Glenn. It's a classy cocktail bar with lots of brick and cement floors, and amazingly, still sounds great! Brick, glass, cement, and metal usually make a room have way too much in the way of brightness and volume, but this club makes it work well for them. By the end of the evening, people were up dancing on the stage with us, and kept us playing with encore requests! I had a great first-time at Muddle!

AJ's Ale House 1/31/14

I like to think that each of us are the center of our own little universe. Sometimes we let people into our universe, and sometimes, others let us into their universe. Tonight in New Braunfels, everyone more or less stayed inside their own universe, and sometimes would bump into other people's universe. While inside my universe, I imagined a crowd of people at a Journey concert, each of them walking up to Steve Perry with a slip of paper. Written on that sheet of paper, was my name and the title of one of the songs I've written. Steve looks behind him to drummer Mikey Gammon, and they burst out into a sing-along version of "Mistaken Identity".
