House Party 3/8/15

I performed at a house party with Ian Lee and the Open Hearts tonight in San Marcos. We had a great time (right up until a noise complaint shut us down). The music Ian writes is very fluid and melodic, and the apartment full of people sure enjoyed themselves. Tonight's line up of great musicians included Curtis Clogston on bass, Chris Wallis on drums, Kevin Humphrey on electric guitar, Ian was playing acoustic & violin, and I played piano. There's a video on YouTube of one of the tunes.

Muddle 3/7/15

I had a fantastic night with Joe Resnick in Waco, Texas this evening! We had a packed house, lots of requests, and lots of dancing. Joe really made my night easy by just being on it, as always. There were many songs I played that he knew better than I did and there were many songs that I played that I knew better than he did, but we stuck together as a solid team, and pulled out every song as if we rehearsed it! Thanks Waco, it was fun!

AJ's Ale House 3/6/15

The list of tunes we did tonight was insane. The club was packed wall-to-wall, and Michael Gammon and I played non-stop requests for three hours. There were pop, metal, jazz, rock, disco and more hitting the piano tonight. I felt a little schizophrenic by the end of the night!

AJ's Ale House 3/5/15

Great crowd in New Braunfels tonight! The night started off slow, but about an hour and a half into my show, three huge parties came in to sing, dance, and have a good time. Many fans I haven't seen in a while came out to have fun at the show, too! It was great seeing everyone tonight!

House Of Blues 3/2/15

Dave Lovett and I carpooled from San Marcos to Houston to perform on the main stage at House Of Blues for a Howl2Go private event. Dave is a great player, and the show went perfectly. What was the first request? FREEBIRD! Naturally. We both had fun trading off licks and tunes tonight, and I look forward to working with Dave again soon!

Zelicks 3/1/15

What a great time at Zelicks in San Marcos I had today performing with The Hill Country Gentlemen for Texas Independence Day! We ran through a little over an hour worth of material, smack dab in the middle of the afternoon. Kevin was on fire, digging in and trading licks with me. Troy, Jer, and Clay kept things tight in spite of a difficult-to-hear-yourself-in room. This was the first show I used my upright piano cabinet on, and it felt great. Looking forward to the next Gents show!

AJ's Ale House 2/28/15

Mikey Gammon took some time off from the Ha-Ha Hole (in Bastrop) to play a gig with me in New Braunfels! It was great because a group of fans from Marble Falls came out to celebrate a birthday with us, plus we had another three birthday groups in the house. It was a record-setting evening in terms of requests, and the club was packed all evening long. Mikey, of course, sounded great, and I'll miss him when he returns to the Ha-Ha Hole (in Bastrop).

Angry Elephant 2/27/15

I performed with Mikey Gammon in San Antonio, Texas tonight. We had a solid crowd for our request show. I liked all the dancing and just random requests yelled out. For the last song, I asked the crowd for an "upbeat request", to which they responded "Brick" by Ben Folds.

We played "Sweet Home Alabama" instead.

AJ's Ale House 2/26/15

I had a good crowd in New Braunfels, Texas tonight. People were having fun and singing along with all the tunes they requested. Many folks asked me for business cards tonight, which I always take as a good sign. As a matter of fact, when I walked in the bar, the first thing I was presented with was a message from a guy wanting to know how to get in touch with me. Good to be liked!

Muddle 2/21/15

I drove to Waco, Texas tonight to perform a three hour all-request-piano show, with drummer Roger Glenn. At this evening's show, I received the most requests that I have ever gotten in Waco. My personal favorite was for Allen Toussaint's "Play Something Sweet". "Piano Man" was also requested.

Four times.

Taxi's Piano Bar 2/20/15

Vince Mejia and I performed an all-request piano show tonight in San Marcos. I had fun performing random tunes from Kansas to the White Stripes. Vince, as always, was rock-solid and fun to work with!

AJ's Ale House 2/19/15

Well, it was slow in New Braunfels tonight. I didn't have many requests, but my favorite, by far, was "Muppet Babies". Not only did I play it, but everyone in the bar sang along. Awesome.

Evangeline Cafe 2/17/15

Happy Mardi Gras! I had a fantastic time in Austin tonight with DanHolmesGroup. Chris, Ian & Kevin never disappoint, and the crowd fed off of the energy the band put out. Dancing and music all night is the only way to spend Fat Tuesday! We played from 8p-9:30p, and I couldn't be happier. Laissez les bon temps rouler!!!

LUX Lounge 2/15/15

It was a beautiful early evening gig in Austin, Texas tonight! The weather felt great, so they had the doors open at LUX. People would stand at the railing and sing along to the tunes Chris Wallis and I were playing. "Space Oddity" was such a big hit, the folks on the sidewalk stopped to listen to the whole thing!
Afterwards, tacos were eaten.

Taxi's Piano Bar 2/14/15

Chris Wallis and I joined forces to play for a great Valentine's Day crowd at my favorite basement bar in San Marcos. We had fans come in from Marble Falls and Canyon Lake, plus a bunch of regulars who were in to have a good time. Chris is always fun to perform with, and tonight, he made some new fans, too. Thanks to everyone who drove in to see our show! Happy Valentine's Day!

Evangeline Cafe 2/13/15

I love performing with these talented fellas! Chris Wallis on drums played some super-funky beats tonight. Kevin laid down a deep bass pocket for Ian's guitar and my piano. We played a bunch of Mardi Gras tunes, mixed in with a bunch of our originals, and blurred the lines so thoroughly that the crowd didn't know what was ours and what was a cover! I'm proud to play with cats, and I'm looking forward to Mardi Gras. A big thanks to my wife, Christine, for the great pictures & video tonight!

AJ's Ale House 2/12/15

Random people just jumped onstage tonight in New Braunfels only to sing. Several people walked in from outside and jumped onstage to sing before getting their first drink. I had one guy jump onstage to sing three words as he was leaving the club. I even had two people outside the stage window stop to sing on the sidewalk. It was a very singing kind of night.

AJ's Ale House 2/7/15

Joe Resnick and I had a fantastic night in New Braunfels,Texas! The crowd responded well to everything we threw at them, including when we brought up two birthday people who had never met and made them dance together. They did a great job together, and the night went by very quickly. Thanks to Joe for another fun show!

AJ's Ale House 2/5/15

I traveled to New Braunfels again this evening to play a show for the good people at AJ's Ale House. Everyone was in a good mood, so the night flew by pretty quickly. I'll be back at AJ's this Saturday night, so I hope to see you there!

AJ's Ale House 1/31/15

It had to be a record-breaking night in terms of how many birthdays were being celebrated in New Braunfels tonight. It felt like (the always amazing) Chris Wallis and I would play three songs, then call someone to the stage for their birthday, three more songs, birthday, and repeated that pattern all night long. We decided to shake it off, we shook all night long, and I saw her standing there. Enter Sandman.
