The Hill Country Gentlemen took over New Braunfels tonight! I had a great time with Clay (drums), Jer (bass), Kevin (guitar) and Troy (acoustic). The band, as always, sounded great. So many dancers filled the floor that I didn't want to stop playing. Also, we had lots of friends in the crowd, and it was nice getting a chance to catch up with them on our break!

Muddle 3/5/16
My fourth and final show in a 17 hour stretch, (in four different cities), took place in Waco, Texas. Yep. Houston, Manor, San Marcos and Waco, about 600 miles total, and tonight was a good way to finish an insane stretch of shows, with my friend, Joe Resnick on the drums. Our good night started off with many ballad requests, such as "She's Always A Woman" and "Still Crazy After All These Years" and ended with dance pop tunes like "Shake It Off" and "Billie Jean". As an added bonus, I threw in SpongeBob SquarePants just for fun.

Zelicks Icehouse 3/5/16
The Hill Country Gentlemen performed tonight at 6:40pm in San Marcos to help celebrate Texas Independence Day. I really wanted to play the show with them, but knowing I had a gig in Waco at 9:30pm, The only way I could make it happen was to bring the most portable keyboard rig I could. So, yes, I played the Roland AxSynth. I was able to play a few tunes with them before I had to get on the road, and I had a great time! A big thank you to my wife, Christine, for helping me make it happen, and for also taking some photos of the band!
Manor New Tech High School 3/5/16
My good friend (guitarist) Kevin Humphry teaches at Manor Tech. They had event this morning which he asked Chris Wallis (drums) and me to perform with him for, so we showed up bright and early at 8:30am to play some blues for some students! Fun and different shows with some good friends keep me happy!
Hilton Houston North 3/4/16
Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon) sent my team to Houston tonight to play for a company's customer appreciation party. Gray Gregson (piano), Kevin Humphry (bass), and Chris Wallis (drums) joined me onstage to take requests from the crowd. We had many, many, many requests brought up to us, and the crowd was really complimentary after our show!
We finished, and began our load-out (with lots of help from Eddie Baty, our road crew/photographer), when we hit a snag with our equipment trailer. The spring which helps the door open & closed came off its track, and it took us a little while to figure it out, but these musicians I work with pulled together by not only fixing the door, but loading out in record time! A major repair only lost us about 20 minutes! Thank you to my four travel buddies for all your hard work.

Moonshine & Ale 2/20/16
All that singing and playing wore me out tonight! Whew! Fantastic drummer Joe Resnick joined me on stage to help play every request we possibly could in a three hour show. It was lots of fun to work with Joe again! We knew from the very beginning that it would be a strange night, because of the first two comments said to me as I was setting up. First, a guy said to me, "Hey, I saw you setting up and wondered, are you a sword swallower?" Second, "You look taller on stage", to which I could only reply, "I am taller on stage.

Moonshine & Ale 2/19/16
Mikey Gammon and I had them dancing in New Braunfels tonight! I even had some friends (and fellow musicians) stop in for a few tunes. As soon as they walked in, they began dancing, and a police officer who was on patrol used his flashlight to highlight their awesome dance moves for the song! I took requests from just about every genre imaginable this evening, sometimes from the same table. Prime example: "Sexy And I Know It" by LMFAO and "Amarillo By Morning" by George Strait were brought up together from the same table. We didn't argue. We just played the tunes.

Revention Music Center 2/18/16
Neil Diamond impersonator? Check. $1,000,000,000? Check. Howl2Go show in Houston? Check and doublecheck. Dave Lovett and I represented Howl At The Moon by playing a huge corporate event, where they were celebrating one billion dollars. I never quite understood what the one billion represented, but it was the centerpiece of the show. Actually, the Neil Diamond impersonator was the centerpiece. No, I take that back, we were the centerpiece. No matter, it was a fun show, and I had a great time performing with Dave!

Moonshine & Ale 2/13/16
Chris Wallis and I performed together in New Braunfels for a special Valentine's Day show. Kind-of. It was the night before Valentine's Day, and we played a bunch of songs to a bunch of people who may or may not have been celebrating Valentine's Day together. I know for sure that there was one couple celebrating their 3rd week together, but I'm not sure about everyone else. I loved Chris' drum parts. And I loved that some fans made their way from Marble Falls just to see the show and celebrate a birthday. And I loved when everyone danced the Time Warp. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Evangeline Cafe 2/9/16
Happy Mardi Gras! My favorite time of year was spent with some of my favorite people in Austin, TX. DanHolmesGroup blew the roof off tonight. I couldn't be more proud of the way the band sounded. I really would love to tour with Chris Wallis (drums), Ian Lee (guitar) and Kevin Humphry (bass), and I wish my wife, Christine, could come take photos of the tour. Those three fellas make playing music a truly joyous thing for me. They make my original tunes shine as brightly as the many New Orleans covers we play. Thanks to the crowd for all the kind words after the show as well! We'll see you back at Evangeline on April 22, 2016!

Miramont Country Club 2/6/16
I had a fantastic time in Bryan, TX this evening! I performed a show for Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon) with some great players, in front of a fun, dancing crowd. Dave Lovett took the opposite piano from me, while Chris Wallis played drums and Kevin Humphry played bass. The crowd danced to everything we played, and they requested lots of tunes which we, as a band, wondered if the crowd would enjoy, and the crowd enjoyed all of them! We even had time to eat a delicious dinner, and a nice cup coffee together before we performed. Fun night all around!

Moonshine & Ale 2/5/16
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves tonight in New Braunfels! Mikey Gammon and I kept things flowing all evening, and the crowd just kept bringing love to the stage. It always makes you feel good as a performer to see people smiling and just being a relaxed human for an evening. It's also nice when they spell it out for you on a request slip!

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort 2/2/16
The Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon) show in San Antonio, TX was lots of fun, but also extremely cold tonight! We had a good crowd, and even had a couple of musicians sit in with the band. Thanks to my fellow players, Adrian Lopez, Heather Ray, Katie Clasen and our helper, Eddie Baty, for making it a smooth evening!

Moonshine & Ale 1/30/16
Mikey Gammon's drumming tonight in New Braunfels was like butter on a biscuit. I had fun playing the random requests brought up to us this evening and seeing some old familiar faces in the crowd! We had a packed house all evening. Thanks to everyone for all the great requests!

Hard Rock Cafe 1/28/16
Dave Lovett and I performed a dueling piano show tonight in San Antonio for Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon). We had a great crowd with tons of requests! Dave always is a pleasure to work with. I had a good time doing the show with him from 7:30p-9:30p, and I'm looking forward to our next show together!

Cheatham Street Warehouse 1/12/16
I was enjoying life tonight in San Marcos. The Hill Country Gentlemen played a low-key Tuesday night set (with special guest guitarist Mike Reeh, filling in for Kevin Humphry) and I brought my big hat and new keyboard. It was a fun evening with good friends, and a great way to pause my gig schedule for a couple weeks for a much needed vacation!

Moonshine & Ale 1/9/16
Man!!! New Braunfels was swinging tonight! Chris Wallis once again made my job easy by lying down some funky beats to all the random requests we played. Non-stop birthdays and bachelorettes made the evening go by very quickly. Every genre, every tempo, every artist was represented in the show tonight. Thanks Moonshine & Ale!

Moonshine & Ale 1/7/16
New Braunfels was pretty entertaining tonight! I played a bunch of requests and made a bunch of new friends. The party eventually made it onto the stage, and stayed there for the remainder of the night! Thanks to everyone for coming out to my Thursday night show in the past. Tonight was my last Thursday at Moonshine & Ale, as they transition to piano bar on only Friday and Saturday nights for now. I'll be back this Saturday with Chris Wallis on drums!

Moonshine & Ale 1/1/16
First gig of 2016 was great tonight in New Braunfels! I wore my big hat, and it made the requests flow to the piano fast as a river. I had bunches of fun with the crowd. I wasn't sure how many folks would show up to the day-after-the-big-New-Year's-Eve-show show, but I had a big, participating crowd all night. It really was a great way to start 2016!

Happy New Year!!! It was wonderful to have my wife join me & Mikey Gammon on stage to ring in the new year. Mikey and I had a great crowd with tons of requests tonight. I'd like to thank the crew at Moonshine & Ale, as well as Perry Thompson for a great year in New Braunfels!
