Desiderata Estates 6/22/17

Dan Holmes Group took over Lockhart, TX tonight. Chris Wallis was greatly appreciated on the drums by the crowd, while Kevin Humphrey's bass playing was rock-solid. Ian Lee on guitar traded licks with me as we played a couple hours worth of tunes. I really feel fortunate to know so many great musicians like these fellas. They validate my career choice every show!

Palm Door 6/20/17

Heather Ray and I played for the Denali Party on 6th street tonight. Groove Labs provided sound for our dueling show. Heather sounded great as she played through the requests the crowd brought up to us. I even had a chance to play some rare Beatles tunes for the folks! Fun evening in downtown Austin.

Zydeco's 6/17/17

Our third and final night of our three-night run a Zydeco's in Mooresville, IN was a ton of fun! The band was on fire, the crowd was in great spirits, the owner of the place, Deb, was selfie-happy, and the other owner, Carter, hung around long enough to say hi and catch up with us before the show! A bunch of family and friends made it out, plus our Zydeco's fans were in full force tonight. Duke Tumatoe even dropped by to hang out with us, which was humbling to have him down for the show. Bill Ritter and Steve Brunner are so very talented, and it is always an honor to play with them. I had a great time in Indiana, and I look forward to our next encounter with the Zydeco's crew...rumored to be in New Orleans for the Crecent City Classic. We shall see!

Zydeco's 6/16/17

Two of three nights in Mooresville, IN happened this evening. I love playing with these two guys. We pulled out the most random of tunes, many of which are not easy to play, and they sounded like we had been playing them for years. The song "Plastic" from my album "Burning Down" is one of those songs I didn't ever expect to play live, but we nailed it tonight. So far in two nights, we've played about 80 tunes. Yep. These fellas are pretty amazing. As an added bonus, an old friend of the band, Jeremy Sells, was in the crowd and sat in for a few tunes, too!

Zydeco's 6/15/17

First of our three-night stint in Mooresville, IN on a muggy Thursday evening was bunches of fun! Steve Brunner and Bill Ritter joined me in playing tunes and eating Cajon cuisine. We played tons of tunes together for the very first time, including some of my original songs which I've rarely or never played live! "Shrimp Juice", "The Devil", "Something's Going Down", "Lost At Sea", and "Big Brass Band" just to name a few of my songs we played. Then, as we were in the last measure of our last song, the power went out in Mooresville. Everything just shut off, so we yelled "Goodnight" from the stage and went home.

Moonshine & Ale 6/10/17

I played with Andrae Blissett and David Lee tonight in New Braunfels. Big crowd with lots of odd requests, and we played tons of them! Both David and Andrae kept me laughing all night. Those dudes are funny. Also, we had several fans in the crowd, many of them I hadn't seen in a long time! Thanks to everyone for coming back to see our show!

Moonshine & Ale 6/9/17

Heather Ray and I rocked New Braunfels tonight! We had a big crowd requesting tunes as we swapped off between drums and piano. Heather puts on a fun show, and it was great to share the stage with her again tonight. Thanks goes out to all the people asking for such good tunes this evening!

Rockey's Piano Bar 6/8/17

Man, Mikey and I had fun tonight in Round Rock! Good crowd, random requests, and people were singing and dancing all night. We were making each other laugh on stage all evening. Some of my favorite moments, though, came from a woman who just found out she's pregnant. I announced it, and immediately a table near her started singing "Ooh, baby, baby" from Salt n Peppa's "Push It". Then, the new mom requested "I Just Can't Wait To Be King". So we made her agree, if it's a girl, Peppa; if it's a boy, Simba.
Legally binding.

Tantra Coffeehouse 6/6/17

Phat Tuesday had a special guest; drummer Roger Glenn. DanHolmesGroup played our super-funky blend of blues and rock, and Roger gelled with us effortlessly. Ian Lee (guitar) and Kevin Humphrey (bass) both sang tunes tonight when they weren't dominating their respective instruments. In fact, they even swapped bass and guitar for fun at one point! These are some talented fellas, and I had a great time performing with them.
Thanks as always to my wife, Christine, for taking some great pictures of the evening!

Krause Springs 6/3/17

Spicewood, Texas got a whole mess of rain today, but we played for a bunch of trail runners, so rain means nothing! My wife Christine was with me and helped with setup, then went to volunteer for the race. As the runners were hanging out before and after their various races, DanHolmesGroup played a bunch of tunes for them. Ian Lee, Chris Wallis, Kevin Humphrey and I locked in together through a bunch of tunes, some of which we tried for the first time today!
We were first in what was supposed to be a three-band line up, but when Shady Rest Band took the stage, they were only able to get about four songs in before power started flickering due to lightening in the area, so we shut it down for a while. We waited to see if the storms would pass, but the rain was persistent. The Hill Country Gentlemen were supposed to be third on the stage, but as all the Gents pulled into the park, the storms began to flare up again. They helped us pack up, but it was still great to see everyone again!

Embassy Suites Conference Center 6/2/17

Gray Gregson and I traveled about ten minutes from our houses to the show tonight in San Marcos, where we played a private event for a large group of plumbers in San Marcos, representing New York, New York Dueling Pianos. The show was 3-1/2 hours of non-stop requests, including lots of classic rock and county tunes. It went really well, and by the end of our gig, the organizers were saying they'd like to have us return for their next convention!

Moonshine Drinkery 6/1/17

Chris Wallis and I took requests in Victoria, TX tonight! Chris rocked it like he always does, which is even more impressive tonight because he had wrenched his back and wasn't moving fluidly, but you'd never know by his mad drum skills.
We also had lots of people who'd seen me before in various different places, and proceeded to let me know where after the show. It was really great to hear from folks two hours away who had seen my shows in San Marcos, New Braunfels and San Antonio. One couple approached us for a picture after the show because they had caught me at one of the random nights I filled in at Howl At The Moon, and then sent the picture to their friends in Canada who also saw my show. Maybe if things go well, one day I can say "I'm big in Canada."

Desiderata Estates 5/30/17

I played some blues tonight in Lockhart, TX with Jimmy T & The Teardrops. It was a fun night, and near the end, a sax player and another guitarist joined us for a few tunes. I dig this venue! DanHolmesGroup will make our first appearance here on June 22, 2017 so come on out!

Cathedral Oaks 5/28/17

Wedding reception tonight in Belton, TX for Howl2Go with Adrian, Katie and myself went great! We played a couple hours of requests for the newlyweds and their guests before the storms outside made people nervous enough to call it an early night and head home. Everyone said they had fun, but when a break in the torrential downpours happen, you can't blame anyone for trying to get home safely. Congratulations to newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Kline!

Moonshine & Ale 5/27/17

I played with a couple talented fellas tonight. David Lee & Michael Sueiro joined me on stage in New Braunfels. We had a packed house with lots of requests, and we knocked out 92% of them! I enjoyed hearing Mike play sax a few times throughout the night, and the crowd dug it, too.

Moonshine & Ale 5/26/17

Danny Smith and I shared the stage tonight in New Braunfels. We had a big crowd, played tons of requests, and generally had a good time. Super Mario kept creeping into songs, but it just made the tunes level up. Thanks to the folks at Moonshine & Ale for a good time!

Desiderata Estates 5/23/17

Blues day Tuesday in Lockhart! I hung out with Jimmy T. and the Teardrops for a couple fun filled hours of music. The music was so powerful, it blew Johnny (bass) clean off the stage at one point (he's fine)! We also had some good harmonica playing with us, great dancers dancing for us, and good vibes all around. I'll be back next Tuesday for more!

Howl At The Moon 5/22/17

I played in San Antonio tonight on the Riverwalk with Tommy, Denise, and Katie. There was a group from Australia who kept requesting nothing but AC/DC. Eventually, one of them paid the stage fee, and sat in on one of the AC/DC tunes on guitar. You never know how that's going to go, but that said, he was decent!

Seguin Brewing Company 5/20/17

I had a bunch of fun with my buddy, Chris Wallis (drums), tonight at Seguin Brewing Company. There wasn't a huge crowd, but the people who were there hung out and had fun with us. I originally thought that I was bringing my original band to an outdoor club in Schertz, TX, but this was a request show in Seguin. I play too many different small towns. Also, my wife took some cool pictures, and I'm lucky to have my very own photographer with me wherever I go!

Howl At The Moon 5/19/17

I filled in at the San Antonio river walk Howl At The Moon tonight. We had a good crowd, and a steady stream of requests. Ashleigh Pike's (pictured on drums) last night was this evening, so I'm glad I had a chance to perform with her again before she goes off to have her baby! Only after the show was over and I was headed home did we realize it was another player, Denise's, birthday. So happy birthday, Denise!
