Moonshine & Ale 7/30/23

The final show of our Summer Concert Series was so much fun! We had quite a few people in the place, and one big group was from Canyon Lake Middle School, staff and faculty reunion. We even played a longer show since they were in! This show was all about the ‘90s, and we had people singing along with almost everything we played.  These Sunday shows this summer have been so much fun, and it is largely due to the super-talented musicians I get to work with! Big thanks to Pancho, Chris, and Kevin for agreeing to do these shows with Heather and I. They really are top-notch, grade “A” musicians. Afterwords, we hung out, ate some pizza rolls and played pool. Great way to finish out the night!

Sean Patrick’s Irish Pub 7/28/23

Heather and I had some folks in the audience in San Marcos, TX, tonight show us where in Michigan they were visiting from. We had to be polite and show where we lived once upon a time. It was a fun crowd, and we played and extra half hour because so many people were waiting for us when we arrived!

Moonshine & Ale 7/27/23

Heather, Pancho and I were joined by Missy Alcazar for Live Band Karaoke in New Braunfels tonight. We got a bunch of singers up to do a song with us throughout the evening. It was fun having Heather on bass tonight! Missy and Pancho traded solos and Heather and I locked in which made the night fun!

Moonshine & Ale 7/23/23

The parrot heads were out in full force for our “Island Mix” band night in New Braunfels! We played lots of Jimmy Buffett, Bob Marley, Harry Belafonte, UB40 and many more. So much dancing and general good-feeling partying happened, and I’m glad we made them so happy! Christine took a bunch of photos for us, and I captured some dancing on my GoPro. Pancho Garza (guitar), Chris Wallis (drums), Heather Shook (bass), and I (Dan Holmes) really had a great night with everyone!

Moonshine & Ale 7/22/23

I met drummer Jarrett Wenzel tonight when he joined Heather and I on stage for our show! He sounded great, and it was great playing with him. The crowd was really amazing! They sang and danced all night long. I love playing to an appreciative and responsive crowd. Heather and I feed off of that energy! Our friends from the tennis ranch all showed up and raised the energy level from a ten up to an eleven. It was a fun night all around!

Barrels & Amps 7/21/23

Heather and I once again brought ourselves to Georgetown, TX, where we took requests for the three-hour dueling pianos show! We had a full room, and the requests varied from Miley Cyrus to Jerry Lee Lewis, and everything in between. We gave the people whiplash from all of the turns we made from song the song. It was a fun night!

Moonshine & Ale 7/20/23

I played drums tonight in New Braunfels for Live Band Karaoke . Heather had the night off, but we’ve got three shows together this weekend. Tonight, I performed with Pancho and Denise. It was really busy, and we did our best to get everyone on stage who wanted to sing with us, but we definitely had more requests than time would allow for. Heather and I will be back this Saturday at Moonshine & Ale for piano bar!

Moonshine & Ale 7/16/23

The Summer Concert Series was a ton of fun tonight in New Braunfels! We played a little over an hour-and-a-half show full of Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, and a few others sprinkled in. Heather’s vocals always impress me, and she sounded great on both bass and keys. Pancho really hit everything well, and played his guitar just like the record. Chris Wallis on drums is a treat to perform with because he takes music seriously and it shows when he performs. We’ve got two more of these Sunday shows left to go, so come see us!

Moonshine & Ale 7/15/23

Heather and I took requests again tonight in New Braunfels, this time with Ed on drums. We had several bachelorettes in the crowd, including one of our favorite servers at Moonshine & Ale, Morgan! It’s pretty amazing that no matter how stressful things can get in our personal lives, Heather and I lock in so well and bring each other’s spirits up at every single gig! I had a lot of fun tonight, and it was great getting to entertain a full room of appreciative people!

Moonshine & Ale 7/14/23

Tonight started with a fun group of teachers, a couple birthdays, and a bachelorette party! Heather and I made it though the night with wildly varied requests. I’m pretty sure this makes the first time “Friends In Low Places” was followed up by “Personal Jesus”.

Moonshine & Ale 7/13/23

Wow. I don’t even know where to begin. Some nights are definitely different from others. We had a packed house, and everyone had fun, but it was difficult for us on stage. People were trying to get on stage and interrupt singers, and I had to stop them all. Others kept smashing into Kevin (guitarist) because their dance moves were extravagant. Several issues with people taking requests and money away from Heather when she’d look away. We dealt with all of it to the point that no one really knew anything was happening. That is until a group came up to sing at ten-til-midnight, and one of them proceeded to fall off the stage into the TV monitor used for lyrics. Kinda ended the show abruptly. We did get to visit with friends and a tiny little puppy after the show!

Moonshine & Ale 7/9/23

Our Summer Concert Series was super fun tonight in New Braunfels! We played songs from overseas like “Oh Darling”, “Space Oddity” and “Sledgehammer” plus lots more. Pancho nailed the guitar parts while Heather and Chris held the groove down. We’ve got three more weeks of this series to go, so join us next Sunday at 6p at Moonshine & Ale!

Rockin J Piano Bar 7/8/23

Heather and I laughed our way through another show in Cedar Park, Texas, tonight! There were several birthdays being celebrated, and so we seem to each one of them to help make their day special. We had some interesting requests like Sade “Smooth Operator” and Dan Harmon “I Can Dream About You”. After we finished, a couple of fellas came up and asked us about a private event they’d like for us to play at in a couple of weeks, and knowing our schedule, I figured there would be no way, but it turns out it was the only open date on our schedule for months. Hopefully, it works out that we can go play for their party!

Moonshine & Ale 7/6/23

I played drums for Live Band Karaoke in New Braunfels tonight. Pancho was on guitar and a visiting player from Massachusetts, Julia Chisholm on keys. We had a full house, and lots of people wanting to sing! The band sounded great, and that’s all I can ask for!

Moonshine & Ale 7/2/23

Our Summer Concert Series was packed tonight! We played hits of the ‘80s & ‘90s. Heather, Pancho, Chris and I had a great time performing together, and we made a bunch of new fans tonight. My wife, Christine, took most of these great pictures. It was her birthday, so we all went to Krause’s for dinner after the show, which was a bunch of fun. We’ll be back next week for another Sunday full-band show!

Moonshine Drinkery 7/1/23

Heather and I had a bunch of fun in Victoria, TX, this evening! We love performing for our friends at Moonshine Drinkery. Several birthdays were celebrated, and a newlywed couple brought their entire wedding party in to see the show after their reception. We also had several friends in the crowd, which always makes it special. We’ll be back in Victoria later this year, so check our schedule!

Sean Patrick’s Irish Pub 6/30/23

We performed in San Marcos, TX, for our monthly show at Sean Patrick’s! We had a good crowd, and they kept the requests coming all night. Christine showed up and surprised us about halfway through the show, and hung out for the rest of the night. Once we finished entertaining the people, we packed up, and headed back to my house where the three of us are playing Bananagrams and ordering late-night cookies. It’s a good life with two good wives.
