Howl At The Moon 4/29/08

A tuesday night at Howl at the Moon = a Thursday night at most other bars. The crowd was giveing us odd requests all night, but Nick, Jay, Rob, Chad & I took care of them.

At least, 90% of them.

Zydeco's 4/26/08

We had a cool crowd tonight. Actually, we had two cool crowds.

Bill and I began at 7:00p to a full house. People were singing along to New Orleans classics and my originals while stuffing their faces with crawfish. As energetic and involved as they were, most of the crowd, after buying CD's, left at about 9:00p. Normally, Bill and I play straight through until 10:00p, but some people wanted us to sign CD's, so we took a break.

9:30p came and the house was full again with a brand new energetic crowd. Bill and I didn't finish up until almost 11:00p.

And then we had dinner...mmmmmmm

Howl At The Moon 4/25/08

Longest. Day. Ever.

At 8:00am, I was up and ready for a rehearsal with Duke Tumatoe and Bill Ritter. We finished up at about 11:00am, which gave me enough time to run some errands, eat, shower & head downtown by 5:00pm.

The band (Bill Ritter, Brian Yarde & myself) played a rockin' hour-and-forty-five minute set. After Brian and Bill left, I had just under an hour to grab a bite to eat, and then jump back on stage for the dueling piano portion of the night.

I finished at about 12:20am, at which point I got in my car and drove to the Silver Bullet in Beech Grove to meet up with Bill and see Duke's last set. I headed home at about 2:00am.

Of course, I didn't fall asleep until after 4:30am

Zydeco's 4/24/08

My massage therapist showed up and gave out free shoulder rubs to most of the people in the resturant. See what you miss when you don't come to one of our shows?

Howl At The Moon 4/22/08

Tuesday night in any club can be a little slow, but the crowd we had rocked! One big group from Germany, plus one big group from Wisconsin, plus a few straglers all night long equaled a big party. They tried to play stump the players, but it didn't work out.

The players wouldn't admit weather they knew any songs or not.

Zydeco's 4/19/08

Not to busy tonight at Zydeco's, but we had fun with the crowd that came. We sold a few CD's and made everyone happy by playing random tracks from it. A couple of new fans told us they would be checking our schedule regularly to see where we would be next.

So, here's to you, new fans. One day, I will learn your names.

Howl At The Moon 4/18/08

I felt the earthquake this morning at about 5:30, just before I went to bed. So, my day started with a rumble.

Bill, Steve and I rocked the cocktail hour at Howl tonight. People were excited to have us in as a group. Thanks to everyone for coming out!

Then, due to Nick's Frisbee incedent, I stayed to play his shift as a dueler. The crowd barely turned over all night long, which means they didn't want to leave.

I, however, left at midnight, and I'm about to fall asleep earlier than I have in a few weeks. Goodnight.

Howl At The Moon 4/17/08

Poor Nick...

He had a run in with a frisbee and was forced to wear sunglasses all night long. Which, of course, meant that the rest of the piano players has to wear sunglasses for parts of the night as well. Good crowd, lots of fun.

Jay Jones and I went out for some breakfast after the show, and as we started talking about Hotel California, it came on the jukebox....creepy.

Howl At The Moon 4/16/08

Tonight was a little slow at the great dueling piano bar in downtown Indy. I played a set with Todd, and then one with Nick. I'll be back tommorrow for some more dueling fun!

Arts Garden 4/15/08

Bill and I backed up Tish Lyndsey at the Arts Garden in downtown Indy today at noon. It was a good lunch crowd, and we plowed through a bunch of Tish's songs, which hopefully will be released on a CD someday....

Rum Runners 4/12/08

The crowd, once again, was scared off by the threat of bad weather. After a few slow-ish hours, I jumped in my car and headed back home. After being in a hotel room for three nights, I'm ready to sleep in my own bed....

Rum Runners 4/11/08

Tommy Orr played a great show tonight, along with Will and John. The crowd was ready to party, and they had no problem letting us involve them with everything. We had a good time!

Tommy had some family sickness issues, and I was very impressed with his professionalism. Best wishes go out to his family.

Rum Runners 4/10/08

Bad weather made it a bad night for piano karaoke. It was rainy and cold, and only a handful of peeps were there. I played three hours straight through with John on guitar, and then we called it a night. Better luck tomorrow.

Rum Runners 4/9/08

Rum Runners was slam-packed tonight. The college kids were drinkin' and having a ball! John played guitar while two of us split piano duties. Now, back at the hotel room for some sleep....

Zydeco's 4/6/08

Brunch was a lot of fun for me today, because I had a chance to play with Jack Joseph (on bass). The two of us hadn't had a chance to gig together for a while, but it felt like no time had passed at all. For a morning show, the crowd was unusually energetic. People were dancing at singing with almost no prompting from (the owner) Deb!

Thanks to Deb, by the way, for selling a bunch of CD's for us today!!!

Zydeco's 4/5/08

Thomas Brinkley filled in for Bill Ritter on bass tonight at Zydeco's. We had a good time, and the crowd enjoyed themselves so much, we played about an extra half-hour before we had a chance to eat Carter's excellent food. Thanks to everyone who purchased the new CD!

Art Bank 4/4/08

Thomas Brinkley and I flew from the Howl gig to the Art Bank for a gallery performance. We plugged through a bunch of tunes, and Thomas proved to everyone just how great of an ear he really has.

Howl At The Moon 4/4/08

Steve Brunner and I (along with Thomas Brinkley, who was filling in for Bill Ritter on bass) played our first Howl date together as a band. I have performed at Howl many times as haf of a dueling team, but the vibe was very different as a group. The crowd was small, yet mighty. Thanks to all our usual fans for hanging with us!
