Moonshine Drinkery 6/29/18

Heather Ray and I performed in Victoria, Texas, together tonight. I always have fun performing with Heather! She drummed for most of the evening, but we did swap off for a few tunes at a couple of different points in the evening. We had some familiar faces in the crowd tonight, and just like always, they were bringing up great songs for us to play. Thanks to everyone who came to the show!

Moonshine & Ale 6/28/18

Live Band Karaoke in New Braunfels, TX, was fun with Holly Cloyd and Pancho Garza. We did have a few technical glitches with the laptop which runs the lyric program, but we played through it fine. The crowd wasn’t as big as last week, but that’s probably due to the 4th Of July weekend, as everyone holds out for all the festivities. I’ll be back this Saturday to take requests on piano, and again on Tuesday for a rare, mid-week piano bar show!

Howl At The Moon 6/27/18

I subbed in San Antonio, TX, tonight on the riverwalk. Tommy, Hailey, Anthony and I performed for a fairly tame Wednesday night crowd. It’s been a while since I played at Howl. I looked back, and it’s been nearly a year! Time flies.

Moonshine Drinkery 6/23/18

Heather Ray joined me in Victoria, Texas, tonight for our sing-along piano show! She played drums most of the evening, but we did swap off for a little while so she could play some piano for the people. The show was a lot of fun, and so were all of the various conversations I had with people in and around Victoria today. I feel very fortunate to be able to perform for a living, and do so with such great musicians. I love my musician’s family!

Moonshine Drinkery 6/22/18

Who knows who sings Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? Most everyone who has seen the show, except for one person in our crowd tonight in Victoria, TX. Chris Wallis and I played it just like Fresh Prince would’ve if he played piano or drums. Besides that tune, we had some great random tunes come up. “Break My Stride”, “Hook”, “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic”, “I Kissed A Girl”, “Cold As Ice”, “I Want A New Drug”, and the only Billy Joel tune requested tonight was “Say Goodbye To Hollywood”. Interesting requests all night long.

Moonshine & Ale 6/21/18

People were singing with the band again tonight in New Braunfels, TX. I played some key-bass with Andrae Blissett (drums) and Pancho Garza (guitar) for Live Band Karaoke. We had a packed house for most of the evening, and a steady stream of song requests. It was good to make some music with a couple great musicians!

Moonshine & Ale 6/16/18

New Braunfels, TX, was the site of our sing along show tonight! Joe Resnick (drums) and Michael Carrandi were my partners on stage. We had a bunch of requests and played them all! Thanks again to everyone for making it another great night!

Moonshine & Ale 6/14/18

Christine, my wonderful wife, sang with me tonight in New Braunfels, TX, during Live Band Karaoke! This was her first time ever trying Karaoke, and she made me proud. Those of you in the know will understand what a big deal this was to me. I really didn’t think she’d join me on stage, but she came up and sang “Come Together”. Anna, my niece, was in the crowd, too, so I had some time to catch up with her over the course of the evening, which also made me happy. It was a fun show with many great singers. Andrae and Pancho are a couple of fun cats to jam with, and I look forward to playing with them again soon.

Sam’s Town Point 6/9/18

The Governors performed in south Austin tonight, and I joined them on keys. I had a great time playing Doug’s original tunes, and a few tunes Candler and Chris sang, too! Some sweet pedal steel, hot guitar licks, thumping bass, and groovy drums made my job easy and fun. I had a good burger and tots before taking the stage. This was my first night at Sam’s Town Point, and I hope I get to come back some day soon!

Moonshine Drinkery 6/8/18

Roger Glenn joined me in Victoria, Texas, tonight for the all-request piano show. This was Roger’s first night in Victoria, and the crowd didn’t let us down. They requested pretty much one of every kind of song. No matter how many curveballs I threw at him, he hit them all!

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown 6/6/18

My show went over great at a private event for Wal-Mart in Austin, TX, today! I performed right after “The Voice” contestent Reid Umstattd. Turns out we have a mutual friend in drummer Roger Glenn! Today’s event was for Wal-Mart associates. I played about a half-hour worth of cover tunes for the ballroom full of people. As a treat, I had a chance to listen to Reid’s set. Boy, that fella can sing!

Moonshine Drinkery 6/2/18

My second gig of the day was in Victoria, Texas, with drummer Chris Wallis. We performed our show to an appreciative audience. There were lots of random song requests tonight. By far my favorite was the Beatles “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. There are lots of other good ones, but nothing tops a song like that one!

Texas Trail Running Festival 6/2/18

For the second year in a row, I performed out at Krause Springs for the good folks with Tejas Trail. It was Roger Glenn and I playing a bunch of my original tunes for people who were applauding from everywhere, including down in the river below us! It was hot, but a lot of fun. Roger is a great guy to work with. I helped book the music this year, and the line-up included:

10a-12:15p Big Cedar Fever
(Western Swing and Jazz trio)
www.BigCedarFever.com

3p-5:15p Dan Holmes Group
(Piano-driven New Orleans blues)
www.DanHolmesGroup.com

6:30p-8:45p Steel Betty
(Traditional and Original Folk-Grass)
www.SteelBettyBand.com

My wife was volunteering with the medics, and she took some great photos of all the bands! Now, I’m off to my next gig, 3+ hours away from my first gig.

Embassy Suites Conference Center 6/1/18

Gray Gregson and I returned to our local convention center to once again perform for Austin Pump & Supply. In San Marcos, where we played representing New York, New York Dueling Pianos. The show was 3-1/2 hours filled with requests, including many classic rock and county tunes. For the second year in a row, at the end of our gig, the organizers were saying they'd like to have us return next year. Looking forward to year three!

Moonshine & Ale 5/31/18

I played keytar tonight for Live Band Karaoke with Pancho Garza (guitar) and Andrae Blissett (drums). We did what we do and we did it how we do it. People were happy singing with us as we provided the backing music for them. New Braunfels never lets us down! I like playing with these two guys. It was lots of fun!
