Moonshine & Ale 12/26/15

Woo! Mikey Gammon drummed tonight while I took requests on the piano in New Braunfels, and it was fun! His brother was in town for the holidays, and he sat in on a tune, too. The crowd was in a post-Christmas haze of overeating and alcohol which means they were cool with everything we played. Don't forget, Mikey and I will return to Moonshine & Ale for our big New Year's Eve show next Thursday!

Moonshine & Ale 12/19/15

Chris Wallis (drums) made me laugh all night tonight in New Braunfels. The best event of the evening came when a woman brought me a request for Adele's "Hello" with the instructions to play it fast and happy, not slow and depressing. Without talking, Chris and I simultaneously broke into a polka version of the tune because you can't be sad while listening to polka.

B&B Butchers 12/18/15

After my early morning date with my wife to see the new Star Wars film for our 12th anniversary, I drove from San Marcos to Houston to gig with Dave Lovett for a Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon) show. Eddie Baty also joined us for set up, tear down, and to take some pictures. The crowd was very kind to us, and we played for a couple hours after they fed us some delicious steaks. The hardest part of the night was just trying to not spoil Star Wars for Dave during dinner!

Moonshine & Ale 12/17/15

Tonight, I wore my largest hat to New Braunfels. The bigness of it was undeniably big. Yet, somehow, it took until the end of the night for anyone to notice. There was dancing and singing and trying-not-to-stare-at-the-piano-player's-big-hat looks, and lots of compliments on my playing, which made me feel good. Now, I'm off to bed because tomorrow morning, I have my tickets to Star Wars! Yes!

Palladium & Muddle 12/16/15

My show in Waco, TX went great tonight! I performed a two-part show for a bunch of teachers. The first part took place at the Palladium at 6:30p, where I performed some dinner music while folks finished their meals, and then began to take & play requests. About 8:30p, we moved the party next door and added drummer Mikey Gammon to the fold, where we played until about 10:30p. Little bunny Fu Fu was present in almost every song, and Bruce in his camo underwear made an appearance. Yeah, things got weird.

Doubletree Greenway 12/12/15

At 1pm, Gray Gregson (pianist), Kevin Humphry (bassist), and Chris Wallis (drummer) met me at my house in San Marcos to ride together to do our show in Houston for Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon). Soon after we hit the road, it started raining heavily, and as traffic started to slow down on the interstate, we were rear-ended lightly by a hydroplaning car. No one hurt and minimal damage, we continued on to our show. Load in and sound check happened before 6pm, and the show was 8pm to midnight to an energetic crowd! They partied and danced and generally had a good time! The dancing kept a smile on my face.
By the time we loaded out and headed home, the wind and rain had intensified, and we arrived safely back at my house by 4am. All three of those pro musicians I worked with did an amazing job, especially considering some intense travel and the long hours. Hats off to you three!!!

Taxi's Pianobar 12/11/15

I had the opportunity to play piano tonight in San Marcos and be accompanied by Mark Johnson on the drums! Mark was great to work with, and the crowd was terrific tonight. Texas State had their graduation festivities this evening, so everyone was in a great mood as they sang along to their requests. Thanks, Mark, for a fun night!

Moonshine & Ale 12/10/15

I had several people want to take their pictures with me tonight in New Braunfels. I played a bunch of requests, and after each tune, it seemed like somebody wanted to get a picture with me. I had fun, and I'll be back next Thursday!

Marriott Northwest 12/5/15

Gray Gregson and I put on a dueling show tonight in San Antonio for Howl2Go (Howl At The Moon). We were set up I the restaurant area of the Marriott for an intimate crowd experience, and it was great! They brought up lots of old Motown and Beatles requests, and they were an extremely interactive group, which always makes my job easy. Thanks to the company Harland Clarke and their employees for having us!

Jack's Roadhouse 12/5/15

DanHolmesGroup played in San Marcos, TX this afternoon for a benefit show called Kooking For The Kids. It was an all day event with bands and food, morning to night. We performed a 45 minute set at 2pm, and I had a great time. Ian Lee on guitar was on his game! His solos were a delight. Kevin Humphry on bass and Chris Wallis on drums are a great team, and they make my job easy. Glad we could help out the folks at Jack's today!

Moonshine & Ale 12/4/15

Chris Wallis and I brought the party to New Braunfels tonight! I love playing with Chris. His groove is always solid & funky. We did several oddball requests, and watched several oddball dancers. It was all good!

Moonshine & Ale 12/3/15

Hooowheee, it was busy in New Braunfels for wassailfest! There were people EVERYWHERE. It made for a fun  night with a packed house. Joe Resnick drummed awesomely, and we had an endless amount of requests! I was happy that my parents even had a chance to come to the show. We played "Wild Child" for my mom...it's her favorite song I perform.
